Jacob acted normal for the whole week. But deep inside you know that he's excited. His heart is probably jumping up and down in his rib cage, just like yours is. Your heart permanently flutters every single time you see Jacob. At last, it's time for the dance.

That night, Irene gets your makeup on. You beam at yourself in the mirror, still loving the look. Then you put on a cute navy blue dress with white adidas shoes.

After being grounded for almost a week, it feels nice to be free. You'd told your mother you were going to a friend's birthday party. So, at nine PM, Irene, her mom, and you drive together to the school dance.

The gym is decorated with such pretty decorations. Lights, banners and other things of the sort fill the dark room while pop music plays in the background.

"Hi." Says a voice from behind you. You turn around. Jacob stands behind you, looking excited. He's wearing nice jeans and a cute t shirt. "Have you seen Y/N Winters around?" He asks, searching for you.

"You're looking at her." You laugh, thinking he's joking.

"Wow." Jacob says. He stare into his beautiful eyes. You can't tell if it's  the impressed 'wow' you were looking for, or a confused/weirded out 'wow'.

"You like the new look?" You ask. Jacob's looking at you funny. "What?"

An announcement blares through the speaker, but you barely hear it. Grabbing Jacob's hand, you show him out of the gym to a large closet. "Is something wrong?" You ask again, Jacob still looking at you funky.

"Jacob!" You snap, trying to get him out of it. Nothing's working. Quickly, you grab the sides of his head, pulling him into a long, deep kiss.

He breaks away after a second, looking startled. "What did you do to yourself?" He asks, looking you up and down.

"What?" You ask, trying to find what he was  judging.

"I liked the way you were before!" He says, turning to leave.

"Wait! What's wrong with this?" You call desperately, motioning to your outfit and makeup.

"You changed, Y/N." Jacob spits, suddenly angry. "How could you change who you were, when the only person I loved you for was yourself?"

He walks out, slamming the gym door loudly behind him. You can't remember how it all happened. It was all a confusing blur of anger and surprise. How could Jacob not like the way you looked? What was wrong with it?

You start to cry. Tears falling endlessly down your cheeks. You slide down the wall into a sad heap, grasping for one happy thought to keep you from turning.

Desperately, you cover up your tears, trying to make it across the gym without making a scene. But people look at you in disgust as you pass them, crying like a toddler.

You don't even look for Irene's Mom's car. You run home as fast as you can, crying mercilessly. Barely able to see, you stumble down the street, almost home.

A scream. That's all you can hear. Everything turns black, blinding you from the blurry life behind your eyes. Pain beyond anything you could've ever imagined bleeds through your body. Quite literally.

You can't move. You can't speak. You curl up in a ball to the confusing noises around you, not sure what they are. You're lost in a haze. Lost in the pain of breakup and brokenheart. Crushed.
