The first thing you hear are words. You can't make them out. Somebody calls something. They sound helpless, scared. The voice seems recognizable, but you can't remember who you've heard speak like that.

You open your eyes. You sit up, surveying the surroundings. Tall trees with brightly colored leaves shimmer in the morning light. You wonder how long it's been since you rolled endlessly down the hill into the forest beyond the neighborhood.

Something sticky, hot and wet dribbles down your face onto your shirt. Blood. It slides down your cheek from a scrape up on your forehead. You groan loudly as you try to sit up. Your leg doesn't seem to want to move properly.

"Y/N!" A voice calls, echoing on the trees around you. You try to shout back, but your lungs hurt so much, and even with the hardest of straining, nothing comes out.

"Y/N!" The voice shouts again. Jacob. You realize who it is calling. Other voices echo off in the distance as well, as if they are looking for you. Scrambling off to the voices, a loud crack rings out in the silence. Your leg has given way.

You know from the pain that it's broken. Just as the last time you remembered, somebody screams. But as soon as it stops, you realize it was from your lips. You were the one screaming.

"Y/N?" Jacob's voice says from behind. A pair of footsteps crash through the leaves behind you. Relived, you slump towards him with the rest of your strength.

But as you turn to face him, all he does it stand there. Gaping in awe at the miserable heap you are, bloody, bruised and broken. His face is pure astonishment.

"J-j-jacob!" You cry, gasping for him. He pulls away in disgust, though that's not what it seems like in the emotion of his face. Regret. Sadness. Even guilt. Does he think it's his fault? Does he know that it's all on him?

Questions ring through your head, making you dizzy again. You clutch for Jacob's shoe. Just something to grab him by.

But he recoiled again. "She's here!" he shouts, "Y/N is here! She needs help!" With that, he dashes away leaving you behind. Tears form in your eyes with betrayal. How could he have just left you there with nobody around, when you were begging for him?

More footsteps crush leaves on the ground. A siren wails and an ambulance arrives. People gather around you, smothering you in bandages and ointment.

You try to speak, to ask them were Jacob is. Right before they load you into the ambulance and dash away, you see him. Standing up on the hill were you fell, gazing in sorrow at your broken body. All you can think about as you slip into darkness again is: he left you.
