"Call me if you need anything." He stops the car right in front of my house.
"I won't need to because I'll be fine," I bluntly reply. "Thanks."
I slam the car door behind me, walking towards my front door. Nolan speeds off with his car, not waiting for me to step inside like I thought he would. Alright, he's officially a dickhead now. I mean I know I shouldn't be offended that he drove off without even making sure I got inside my house safe, it's not like we're dating but if anything does happen to me, it'll be his fault. I've been hurt because of him.
Maybe I'm just being dramatic.
I shake my ridiculous thoughts, pulling out my keys from my pockets but there's no need for me to use them because the door's already unlocked. "Odd." I mumble under my breath, stepping inside right away.
I lock the door, dashing the keys on the dresser in the corridor while the emptiness in the house lingers throughout the atmosphere, a sense of relief washing over me. They've left and now the entire home is all to myself. I slowly walk around the house to make sure no one's here because for some reason, I've got a nasty gut feeling. I can't seem to get rid of it.
A long exasperated sigh leaves my mouth, I place my phone on the coffee table in the living room, sinking my body into the couch. I close my eyes for a few seconds, overwhelmed with everything that's been going on in my life.

The boiling water soothes my skin as my body drowns under the hot temperature. My mind feels fuzzy and at ease as I let everything soak in. I'm done with shampooing, conditioning, and washing my body but staying under the hot water brings me comfort.
My eyes are calmly squeezed close while my arms wrap around my body, the water absorbing me completely. Unfortunately, my sense of peace and serenity comes to a halt as the sound of an objecting crashing onto the floor overtakes my hearing.
I instantly jolt open my eyes, turning off the water. Oh god, is there someone here with me? Panic rushes through my entire being, the realisation of my worst fear taking place may actually happen today. Having to fight an intruder while naked.
I brush those insane thoughts out of my perplexed mind, quickly drying myself with a towel and dressing into an attire. Before unlocking the toilet door, I take a deep breath.
I silently walk down the stairs, trying to not make too much noise. Reaching the bottom floor, I cautiously glance around for anything suspicious. A forbidden shiver shakes through my being because I can feel a bad gut swirling around my stomach.
Standing at the threshold of the living room, I spot two plain wine glasses shattered onto the wooden floor with the cupboard wide open. Janice has a weird preference of how she likes things to be placed around the house. She has many expensive vases and decoration pieces scattered all around the house and a sense of relief washes over me as I notice none of those have been destroyed. Otherwise I'd be dead.
My attention diverts back to the fact that I'm not the only one here. A cupboard doesn't randomly open itself and glasses definitely don't find themselves on the floor without something triggering it to fall.
I step inside, scared shitless to say anything or even turn around. A random cold breeze hits me and I slowly take a look around to find anyone's unwanted presence. But there's nothing.
