Applejack had heard the entire thing, confusion rising in her head.
What did Hestia mean, she never killed Applejack's parents? She was the only one the clues pointed to!
It had to be a lie.
Hestia was playing innocent again.
But just to be sure of everything, she pressed her ear against the side of the gallows, thankful that the thing was hollow.
"I was never the culprit of that," Hestia's voice said.
"Then who started the fires?" Rainbow Dash's voice demanded. "Who caused them to be sick like Twilight was?"
"Why can't we blame nature for this?" Hestia screeched. "Nature makes people sick. Nature controls fires. It's a shame that you think one person was capable of killing humans."
"You literally just killed Blaze and Icarus!" Rainbow shot back.
Blaze... Icarus... dead?
That's when Applejack saw the golden statue.
Of Icarus.
The details too intricate to be sculpted.
That's when she saw a man with golden gloves in his hands.
Of course.
Literally one of the three people she remembered was King Midas, famous for turning his own daughter to gold.
What if she was next?
Hestia gave a severe burn to Apollo's arm as her strength came back. Rainbow turned on her heel and started running, slamming into a wall of myraks, Athena right next to her.
"I just saw Dad running away," Athena whispered. "Said something about needing to use the bathroom."
"Of course he has to go," Rainbow rolled her eyes as she held out lightning bolts as she and Athena slowly backed away from the advancing beasts. An arrow whizzed past their heads and buried itself deep into one of their noses, Artemis hurriedly firing more before Hestia snatched her by the wrist.
Curse Zeus's habit of always needing to use the restroom whenever important stuff happened.
"I see your players are running out," Hestia smirked.
"So this is what you think of all this," Athena said, obviously trying to play it smart to figure out what was happening. "It's all a game to you."
A game...
In her mind, Rainbow could see the entire area as a giant game board, with figurines as the player resembling each and every one of the people there. Granted, there were a lot of gaps, as she didn't know where a lot of them were, but she could see a way out of this.
Sunset, Artemis, she transmitted. Get Hestia's arms. That'll stop her for a little while.
Why? Artemis asked.
Because the myraks will rush to her side, Athena cut in. Hestia's the only one who can control myraks. They're highly loyal to whoever is their leader. Learned that the hard way.
A couple seconds later, and Hestia was on the clouds, staunching the flow of blood from her forearm and shoulder as they all fled, Rainbow ducking behind a corner and clutching the vial tightly.
"I'll take that," a hand pulled the vial away from her, Minos running across the gallows.
"Not for long!" Kratos shoved Minos into a trapdoor and started running with the vial in his hands.
