Sunoo just stared at the rest as they kept playing around, not knowing what was truly happening to them. It felt like he was the only one whom knew the truth of what was going on. It seemed like this place, their home, wasn't as safe as everyone thought it seemed to be. They were being controlled, they were being stopped, stopped from being at their full potential. The ones whom created them, the ones whom brought them this, strict home, were scared of them, scared of them reaching their maximum power. He was curious, what were they so scared of? Was this power so...dangerous?
They were always kept from anything that looked threatening (in their eyes), anything that was pointy. They were always under severe supervision, he started to realize, that this so called home, wasn't as nice and welcoming as a home is supposed to be. Was it ever a home in the first place?
He started to long for the truth, he wanted to know what was so scary of holding so much power. He started to doubt what they kept telling him.
"Jungwon, Sunghoon." he called for them, as those were the only ones whom seemed like they could understand what he was feeling.
"What is it Sunoo?" asked Jungwon, he was a bit concerned for his friend, he wasn't acting the same way like he used to, he was being more distant towards them.
"Don't you ever wonder why they make us drink those pills, why they keep checking our teeth for fangs? Doesn't it seem..."
"What? What does it seem like?" asked Sunghoon.
"Doesn't it seem like they're afraid of us?"
Sunghoon just chuckled.
"Of course they are, they know what we are capable of, that's why they act so mean towards us, they want us to fear them, when they're the ones whom should fear us, that's why they hand us those pills."
"They're making us erase our memories, that's why Heesung keeps getting severe flashbacks and headaches when he drinks them." He knew, he already knew the truth about this place.
"Sunoo, we've been wasting our time here, they don't care about us."
Sunghoon seemed a bit upset, the place that was supposed to be their home, was most likely not even their real home. They had forgotten their purpose and their reason to live, all because of them. He felt betrayed, rightfully so, they weren't letting them grow, it felt like they were stuck in a loop. Every single day, was the exact same day, the rest just didn't know it, as they were submissive to the pills. Even Heesung, no matter how much those pills kept hurting him, he trusted those authorities. It hurt Sunghoon seeing him like that, he was being betrayed and he didn't even know it.
"I guess you two haven't been drinking those pills either, at one point we would find out, wouldn't we?" said Jungwon in a dry tone, heavily sighing after each word. It was obvious, he was just ticked off by the realization of such unwanted truth, such truth they had to swallow.
It was sad, knowing the truth always costed a price.
Would you rather live in a fantasy, never knowing the truth, but being unknowingly happy? Or would you rather live in chaos, but all knowing of the truth?
Jungwon showed his teeth, he had fangs, but how?! How could he already have fangs? He must've been feeling this way, for a long, long time, it must've been some long, nerve wrecking centuries for him.
They both looked at him, in shock.
"We need to warn the others, we can't just keep living like this, we can't just live not knowing the truth, we've gone too far to go back." continued Jungwon, as his voice got thiner and thinner, almost in a whispery manner.
They both nodded.
They were on the line, of being immortal and being a mortal. They needed to walk across the line, to reach towards all the answers. They needed to escape there, they needed to escape together, as there was a reason why all seven of them were always together, they just didn't know why.
Convincing the others was not easy, especially Jake and Heesung, they didn't want to know the truth, but they had no choice. Sunoo kept insisting and insisting, at one point, Heesung gave in, but Jake still did not agree with the idea at all.
"Why do I have to put myself in danger for something you don't know?! I'd rather stay here, at least this place is familiar."
Sunghoon and Jungwon were giving up on their plans, but Sunoo wasn't, he was hungry for the truth, later to be known as power.
The six of them looked towards their cups, filled with blood found by Sunoo, they didn't question where he had found it, all they knew was that if they drank it, they would be free, like Sunoo, Jungwon and Sunghoon had promised them. Jake looking at them, from behind, not sure whether to tell the higher ups about this. He didn't want to be all alone, he despised them for leaving him, he hated them for wanting to be free, why couldn't they just play along and just live in peace?
He was the only one left, the authorities seeming happy for him not leaving them. He felt lonely, he felt hatred running towards his veins, hatred for his friends. He looked out the window, watching the same place where they partook in the ritual, of freedom.
There, he saw the six of them, laughing and playing with each other, they looked towards the window, where Jake stood, and motioned him to play with them.
"Guys!!" He screamed, as tears of joy flew past his eyes.
They had finally realized their mistake, it was safer to be back home than to run away from it. When he went outside, he went towards them and hugged all of them, he hated them for leaving him, but he missed seeing them, playing and joking around with them, so much in fact, that he'd forgive them for leaving him.
Nevertheless, what he didn't realize was that there was something much more sinister coming his way, something that he would hold onto, for eternity.
They all went around him, forming a circle, so he could not leave. Suddenly a hand grabbed him by the throat
"I'm sorry it had to be this way, but you led us with no choice."
He pulled out a drink filled with blood, Jake started to scream, he didn't want this. They kept forcing him to drink it, once he took the last sip, he passed out.
Sunghoon gazed upon him, not one bit of remorse was seen in his face, even if he muttered the words:
"I'm sorry."
