There she was again. In that vast, golden field with the cliff overlooking the ocean and the clear blue sky that seemed to extend forever. It seemed to her that these days, she spent more time in the golden field than in her own reality. She closed her eyes and basked in the silence of the field for a moment, only the whispering of the grass in the breeze to keep her company. When she opened her eyes again, he was there. His back was facing her and he was standing, waiting patiently for her to arrive. She smiled to herself and tip toed towards him.
When she was less than five feet away from him, he spoke, "You know, you can't sneak up on me." She bit her lip to keep from giggling.
"Lilith," He turned to face her, his eyes a vibrant green and full of an emotion Lilith couldn't name. He saw her there, in a gown sewn with the same golden-green hues of their meadow, and couldn't stand being so far away from her for a second longer. He took no more than three large steps and engulfed her in an enormous hug, "You're back. It's been so long."
"It's been one night, Loki. The dreams come every time we go to sleep."
"I know, Darling, but being apart from you for any amount of time is a horrible punishment." Lilith smiled into his chest as he hugged her, breathing in his addictive aroma of rain and on fresh earth. One of the god's hands moved from around he waist and into her hair, stroking her long locks gently, "I've missed you so much."
"I missed you too, Loki." The god couldn't deny the growing feeling of warmth bubbling in his chest. Lilith pulled away from their embrace slightly to place a hand on his cheek. Her brow creased in confusion.
"You're not cold anymore."
"What?"
"Your skin. Usually, it's cool to the touch. But this time... you feel like a regular old human."
"Well, Darling. It must be because you make me melt," She rolled her eyes at his cheesy remark. He took her hand off of his face and placed it against the thin fabric of his black button down, "Feel." His heart quickened slightly at her touch and she smiled.
"It's your heart beat," she said.
"Yes, it is. My cold, dark heart thawing out. And all because it was touched by the sun." The brunette's smile grew, "My world is yours, Lilith. You make my head spin and my heart beat and my breaths come to a halt. I am yours."
"And I am yours. You have me forever, Loki. Until every last galaxy dies, you have me." He held her hand, still pressed to his chest, his other hand still tangled in her hair, and kissed her delicately on her full, pink, lips.
"I don't want you to go..." He groaned, pulling away.
"I wish I could stay."
"But you can't, and neither can I."
"No."
"It really is a shame. But I shall see you again, Darling."
"Where?"
"Right here. Meet me when the day is done. I will be waiting."
"In your dreams," The midgardian joked.
"I can only hope," Loki pressed a chaste kiss to her forehead. That was the last thing he did before the dream faded away, and he woke up alone in his bed on Asgard, wishing with all of his being that Lilith could really be there with him.

Lilith stayed in bed an hour longer than usual to think about her dream and the ones that had come before them. Her consciousness was linked to that of the god of mischief, that fact was undeniable. The mind stone had connected them to each other two years ago in New York and they had inhabited each others dreams ever since. Last night's dream had felt like a mix between a memory and a real event, and the eerie sense of deja vu lingered still. She had been mostly lucid throughout, but her words and actions were not her own. She would have rather thrown something at the arrogant Asgardian than hugged him.
His way of speaking, the way he moved, how he called her 'darling', the way he said her name... it was all an act. Of course the god of mischief would be a master of subtle seduction. Everything was done deliberately to lure her in so she would become a desperate pawn. Right? A knock on her door pulled her from her musings.
"Yeah?"
"It's almost time to go," Steve said, "Is Wanda ready?" Lilith looked over at the snoring girl.
"We might need a couple minutes."
"Make it quick." It was still dark out, only four-thirty in the morning. The sun wouldn't rise for another three hours, but they needed to be ready and waiting in the hotel lobby during breakfast so they could blend in. Lilith shook her younger friend awake and the pair began getting dressed and ready for their mission. While Wanda was in the bathroom fixing her bed-head, Lilith put on a pair of blue jeans and an ACDC tee-shirt under her leather jacket. Wanda came out of the bathroom as the older girl was lacing up her battered combat boots.
"It's all yours," She yawned. Lilith tied her hair back in a braid and pulled a plain black baseball cap onto her head.
"Are you decent?"
"Yeah," Lilith said through a mouthful of toothpaste. Wanda came in and sat on the edge of the tub.
"Sorry," she said sheepishly, "I'm just not used to being alone. I know I'm not, obviously, but you... Pietro... I'm just nervous is all."
"I know how you feel," Lilith said, placing her tube of eyeliner on the edge of the sink, "It's normal to feel nervous before this kind of thing. Especially considering how young we are. Seventeen- and nineteen-year-olds shouldn't have to experience nearly this many life threatening situations. But we're Avengers so... we kind of have to. And Pietro... I'm not going to tell you he's in a better place or that he's watching over you because that's tacky and I hated hearing people say it after my mom died. And it's not true. He's not in a better place because he isn't gone. He's just moving too fast for you to see, Noodle."
"Thank you. You're my best friend, you know. My light, my love, my Meatball."
"How did we come up with such weird yet endearing nicknames for each other?"
"We're just cool like that," Wanda giggled, "And the pasta incident of October two-thousand-fifteen had to be immortalized some how."
"That is very true. Come on Noodle," Lilith held out her hand to help her friend up from the edge of the tub, "We got work to do."
