The hall was decorated in various shades of blue and covered in glittering silver. The room was so full of people that it seemed to buzz with vibrant conversation. Lilith breathed in tentatively as everyone's conversations slowed to a stop, the entire Asgardian population gathered in one, enormous space, staring directly at her.

"Everyone is looking at us," Lilith whispered.

"They're all looking at you," Loki responded quietly, "You look positively ethereal, Darling." Lilith could only smile in response, her cheeks flushing slightly at the compliment.

"As you were," Loki called to the crowd, and the conversations resumed. Lilith let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding. The god led her through the middle of the crowd, the guards following closely behind. Finally, they took their seats on a platform on the opposite end of the ballroom. Loki sat in his intricate silver throne with Lilith next to him, in a slightly smaller version of the same chair. He noticed her rigid posture, the tenseness that surrounded her. She was cracking her knuckles nervously and chewing on her lower lip.

He leaned closer to her chair and whispered, "Would you care to dance?" She jumped slightly at his question but quickly nodded in answer, letting him take her hand and lead her towards the dance floor. Before the next song started and the dance began, the disguised god pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead and suddenly, the disguise was melting away.

"Loki..." She whispered nervously.

"You're the only one who can see," He responded with a smile. He was himself again, wearing a suit blacker than the darkest night and a wide smile, "Shall we?"

"We shall," Lilith smiled back. The music began and they began their waltz, moving gracefully across the floor in a waltz, Loki gazing into her eyes as if she was the only woman he had ever seen, the only woman in the entire universe. And that's how she felt, so incredibly special and loved and cared for. So incredibly at home.

"Loki," She whispered.

"Yes, Darling?" He asked, spinning her around.

"I love you." The god's reaction was not something she expected. He looked as if he was on the verge of tears. As if he'd never heard the words before in his whole life. His eyes were full of complete and utter adoration and she felt her heart swell with happiness. Those words had been exchanged between them a few times before. But everytime, the god looked as if those three simple words could tear him apart and put him back together in an instant.

"I'm in love with you," she said.

"I'm in love with you too." Lilith smiled at his response and he returned her grin, "Wave your hand, Lilith." The woman gave him a confused look.

"What?"

"Just do it, wave it." She did as he asked and suddenly a blue spark shot from her fingertips, flying towards the roof and bursting like a firework. As it did, feathers began falling from the ceiling like snowflakes, gentle and slow and impossibly delicate. Lilith stared in awe, smiling at Loki when she realised what he had done. The guests gasped and clapped at the spectacle, cheering as the lost princess and the king bowed and exited the dance floor.

"Honored guests," Lilith began, projecting her voice so everyone could hear her, "Beloved Asgardians. When I was born, my father was fighting in a war I cannot remember, for a reason I do not care to know. My mother, our beloved late Queen, sent me away to keep me from the violence and the hatred. I was raised by a wonderful family, a team of heroes called the Avengers," Her voice cracked slightly and she felt her eyes begin to burn with tears. She fought to blink them back and continued on with the story that she and Loki had fabricated, "After all of these years I cannot express the joy I feel. Returning to this incredible planet after my time on Midgard is a true relief. I have waited many days and many nights to return to my planet, to my people. Upon my arrival you all have given me the greatest gift of all. You have given me my home."

The kingdom erupted in applause, cheering for her and she smiled at them all from her perch on the platform. Loki gestured for her to take her seat once more and she did, glad to have the opportunity to clear her mind.

"You did wonderfully, Darling."

"Thank you." When Lilith had finally gotten used to the crowd, Loki took her around the room to mingle with the kingdom's people. They laughed and talked and danced for hours until the feast was called and tables magically appeared throughout the hall. Lilith and Loki sat at their place on the raised platform, watching everyone talk and eat and celebrate. The food was exquisite and the company was wonderful. Soon though, it was time for the festivities to come to a close. The pair thanked the guests for attending and bid them all goodnight.

"Wait!" a small voice called, rushing out of the hall, following them, "Wait! Princess!"

"Yes?" Lilith turned around, confused for a moment until she saw a young, red-haired boy with bright blue eyes full of excitement.

"Rowan!" A woman, presumably the boy's mother, rushed out of the hall and picked him up, scolding him for disturbing the royals.

"Please," Lilith interjected, "I don't mind." His mother set him down again and he approached Lilith shyly. She crouched down, reaching the young boy's level.

"I brought this for you." The boy reached into his vest and handed her a piece of thick parchment, folded in half once. Lilith opened it carefully. Inside was a small sprig of lily-of-the-valley flowers. The very plant she was named for, her late mother's favorite. Lilith smiled widely at the child. She felt as if he was handing her a missing piece of her heart.

"Thank you very much. I love them." She leaned forward and hugged the young boy tightly, "You have made this the best night ever." She let the boy go and ruffled his hair playfully.

"Lilith?" She turned back to Loki, still disguised to everyone except for her.

"I should be going," She said to the boy and his mother, "Have a good night. Father?"

"Um. yes?" Loki looked visibly uncomfortable and Lilith had to fight the laughter bubbling up.

"Shall we?"

"We shall."
