The entrance hall was packed with students too, all milling around waiting for eight o'clock when the doors to the Great Hall would be thrown open. Those people who were meeting partners from different Houses were edging through the crowd trying to find one another. Heroneka was feeling so nervous. She began to step down the marble staircase, feeling the uncountable eyes watching her. She looked for Ron and Harry but they were nowhere to be seen. Maybe they hadn't arrived yet.
Suddenly, her eyes travelled through the crowd and spotted Draco. He was standing on the other side of the Entrance Hall, separated from her by the sea of students. His eyes fixed at her, not even blinking. Heroneka had an urge to run through the crowd, straight to him. But she spotted Astoria standing next to him, clinging to his arm. Draco kept gazing at her as she stood in the middle of the marble staircase, away from the crowd. She knew he wanted to reach her too.
"Snitchy!"
She blinked and looked over towards the oak main doors. Hermione was waving at her furiously, looking the most beautiful one in the crowd. Maybe it was the fact that Heroneka was watching her dressed up so elegantly for the first time, that made her best look the best amongst all. She hurried towards Hermione, who hugged her quickly.
"You look so gorgeous!" Hermione squealed. "I'm glad that the fairies were able to make your dress in time."
Heroneka looked back at the place where Draco had been standing earlier, but he wasn't just with Astoria anymore. Blaise and Pansy had joined them, looking happy together. Crabbe and Goyle were skulking behind them, without any partners. Still, Draco was watching Heroneka, standing on his tiptoes to get a look at her.
"What happened?" Hermione distracted her again.
"Where is Viktor?" Heroneka asked her. "Why aren't you with him?"
"Oh, he is right outside!" She pulled Heroneka out the oak main doors. "There!" She pointed towards the lawn. "Charlie is talking to him."
Heroneka's heart thumped feeling a pang of fear. She spotted Charlie and Viktor talking, laughing and bonding. They were standing with all the other Durmstrang students, all having partners. Over their heads, she saw that an area of lawn right in front of the castle had been transformed into a sort of grotto full of fairy lights - meaning hundreds of actual living fairies were sitting in the rosebushes that had been conjured there, and fluttering over the statues of what seemed to be Father Christmas and his reindeer. Charlie and Viktor were immersed in a deep conversation right there.
Why were they bonding though? Was this really necessary?
"What the hell are they talking about?" She asked Hermione. "My sex collar?"
"No!" Hermione looked so happy, that Heroneka knew she couldn't sense her fear of meeting Charlie. "Charlie is telling him about all sorts of dragons he works with. Apparently, Viktor's father is interested in working with magical creatures too."
She held Heroneka's hand, urging her to walk forward and towards the Durmstrang students, who watched the two girls approaching and stopped everything.
"I have never seen a pair of two good looking best friends!" Said Charlie, beaming at them. "One of them is bound to be more beautiful, but it's hard to decide when it comes to you both."
Hermione beamed at him. Viktor smiled softly as she entangled her arm with his.
"You look beautiful." He bowed slightly, gazing at Heroneka.
That was so respectful, she thought.
"Thank you, Viktor." Heroneka smiled brightly at him.
Charlie held out his arm for Heroneka and she wrapped her hand around it quietly. She had no idea what was about to happen. Everyone was going to celebrate tonight, but she? Nope! Heroneka was on a mission.
