Chapter 26 [New Problems, New Solutions]

"Y-You wish to be with me?" Her grip around my wrist now loosed. "Are you... lying to me?" Her grip was quick to strengthen back.

"Veronica," I whined "I would never lie to you or Vixen unless it was necessary." I was trying to calm her down but with the way I phrased my sentence I was only digging myself a deeper grave.

"And exactly what do you deem necessary?" She placed one of her hand around my neck while the other one stayed around my wrist. For every moment I refused to answer her, her grip around me would tighten. I could feel her nails slightly extend signaling her rage was increasing beyond her breaking point.

"You! Veronica I don't want you, Vixen or your family getting hurt, I want to protect them like my own family." Veronica's eyes shifted from purple to red but quickly changed back, meaning she's trying to calm herself but still needed a little help. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't think of being with you after we met, I was pretty flustered when we first met at the airport." A small blush took over Veronica face. "And I can't say I wasn't worried about you when Rose was loosing control." My ear gently rested themselves against my head as I peacefully spoke to her.

"Are you lying?" I tenderly shook my head.

"No darling I'm not, Veronica have I ever purposely lied to you or Vixen?" I calmly leaned closer to her in hopes she wouldn't notice.

"Not intentionally," The batgirl mumbled under deep thoughts as I leaned forward again without her noticing.

"So please understand I'm not lying to you. I love both you and Kai'sa, when she left I was scared. Somewhere I was hurting the thought of Kai'sa leaving us forever, it frightened me." Without Veronica noticing she had finally let go of my wrist. I wanted to take a chance with Veronica hoping she calmed down just enough to let me touch her. Softly kissed the Vampire's face. Her small blush increased bit by bit making me giggle. "I'd love nothing more to be with you but...if we're going to be together I want you to do something in return for me." Veronica glared at me her nails digging into my skin. "Please lift Valentine's punishment." I gasped for air, Veronica seemed very taken back by my request but quickly denied me.

"No and that is final," She growled.

"Please she was only trying to protect your family name." Her hold around me quickly disappeared and so did she. I gently rubbed my neck noticing small drops of blood coming from the thin scratches on my neck. I looked for the taller girl but struggled to find her anywhere in the huge blue room. Until I noticed a out of place line on one of the walls. I walked up to the wall using my nails to pull the wall out just enough for me be able to use my hands to forcefully pull it open. As the wall fully opened I seen a stairway that was lit by purple lamps leading down. (A secret corridor? I didn't think Veronica and Vixen were the type to have them.) I took a deep breath sealing my fear away and began walking down the stairs of the dark room.

I heard a loud blood curling scream, it sounded like Vixen took control but was in a lot of pain. Without realizing it my small steps turn into a full sprint down to her. Once I made it to the door I roughly pushed it opened, Vixen who was now in control looked at me with a shocked yet scared expression. I tried to move closer to her but before I could even touch her a purple spear filled electric flew towards me separating us. I glanced at Vixen who looked like she was going to burst any second, like she was on the break of losing control.

"S-Stay...Away..I-I'll hurt you." I stared at my mate with complete shock.

"Vixen what's wrong," I tried to inch closer to her but another spear stabbed the ground in front of me stopping me in my tracks. "Vixen p-" Another spear rushed at me but stopped at my throat. (I can't just be a little baby and back down now, I didn't choose to be with her just for her power. I want to be with her because she's one of the only few who care.) "Vixen please tell me what's wrong."
