Everyone held their breath, surprised by what I had said.
I turned to look at Bucky and saw that he was bleached, like the rest of the team.
Nobody spoke for a moment.
-Well...it makes sense.- Natasha said -I would have no other ideas on how they were informed about the movement of weapons.-
-Stark Jr and Romanoff are right. Then I'll go make a couple of calls to Coulson and Hill.- Fury said.
-Bucky...- I drew the attention of the man who had his head down -I know I shouldn't ask you but...do you remember the way they recognize each other? I know that bringing to mind those memories hurts you, but it would be really useful.- I said approaching.
Bucky looked up and stared at me with eyes full of terror.
-I...I...I don't know...- he said, shaking his head.
-Anything would help us, Buck.- Steve said, placing a hand on his friend's shoulder.
-I think...I think it was something like Hail Hydra...- the man whispered.
-Okay, Sergeant Barnes, better if you go to rest. It was very helpful.- Fury said.
-Come Buck, I'll take you.- said the Captain, accompanying the Sergeant to his floor.
After a few minutes Steve returned.
-Miss Stark has really done a great job.- Fury congratulated -I never thought it could have happened.- he said standing up -Stark, your daughter will lead the way, I'm sure.- he said going out.
-You shouldn't have opened the S.H.I.E.L.D. files, what were you thinking?- Dad asked once Fury was gone.
-Nothing. You had left the files on the computer in my study.- I said looking at him.
-Anyway now it doesn't matter. It was helpful and this is the important thing.- Natasha said trying to raise the team's morale.
But my head couldn't help but think about Bucky.
I was afraid I had seriously exaggerated.
-Steve, could you...could you take me to Bucky?- I asked looking at the Captain.
-Why do you want to go to the Manchurian Candidate?- asked dad in surprise.
-I think I've brought back some of his traumas and I'd like to apologize.- I said looking at the floor.
-Yes, come on.- Steve nodded as he led the way.
We went to the 19th floor.
As soon as we arrived I noticed that it was quite bare, there was very little furniture.
-Do you think he'll want to see me?- I whispered.
-Yes, don't worry.- he tried to calm me down, while he knocked on the door -Buck, it's me. There is a person who would like to talk to you.-
I heard footsteps and then the click of the door.
When the second super soldier saw us, he was a little hesitant, but he let us in.
We sat down at the table and I decided to start talking.
-Bucky listen…I'm sorry I made you remember that hell...it wasn't my intention, really.- I said looking at him.
-Mhmh…okay, no problem, don't worry...really...- he said looking up and giving me a half smile.
-Really?- I asked smiling.
-Yes, really.- he nodded a little more convinced, which made my heart feel a little lighter.
-If I may ask...is everything alright between my father and you two?- I asked.
-Er...yes, more or less.- Steve said.
-That's OK. For now I believe you.- I said looking at them -Anyway Bucky for anything you can ask Jarvis. He is active 24/7.-
-I'll keep that in mind, thanks.- the man said, nodding.
-Anyway...- Steve began to speak.
-Captain Rogers, Mr. Stark requests his daughter. His exact words "Capsicle brings my little girl back here, thank you right away or you'll go back to the ice." -
-My little girl? You back in the ice? But is he serious? My god.- I said blushing embarrassed -J, tell dad not to call me that anymore and to threaten the Captain I'll tamper with all his armor. And trust me I can do it.-
-You look seriously Howard now.- Steve said, trying to hold back a laugh.
-Mh? Seriously?- I asked and Steve nodded convinced -Anyway we should go. We don't want to make daddy angry, do we?- I said with a chuckle -What are you doing, Bucky, are you coming? In a while we should have dinner.- I proposed.
-I don't...I don't want to be...one many...- he said.
-Absolutely not, Buck. What are you thinking?- Steve immediately said.
-If I ever would be the one more, that would be me. I mean, you almost all have powers, are super strong or have armor. And well I'm a simple human.-
-No more self-pity. Come on or your father freezes me.- Steve said.
-Yes, Captain.- I said saluting, almost making the two laugh.
We went up to the upper floors and found the other clothes more comfortably.
-Here you are, I was beginning to fear that they might have you...- Dad began.
-Dad!- I call him back -I'm fine and they haven't done anything to me. You can also stop sarcasm everytime.-
-Okay.- he said, rolling his eyes.
-What's we to eat tonight?- Clint asked.
-Pizza? What do you say?- replied the doctor.
-Why not?- the god nodded.
-Yes, okay.- said me, dad, Steve and Nat at the same time.
We asked Jarvis to order eight pizzas, then we all sat down on the sofa.
-Stark, can I ask her? Can I?- Thor asked excitedly at one point.
-Ask her what?- replied dad confused.
-Of being worthy of course.- thundered the man.
-Be worthy of what? I'm not understanding.- I asked looking confused at the two.
-Anyone who is able to raise my hammer will be worthy to reign over Asgard. But it can only be wielded by those who are powerful and pure of soul.- he explained placing the weapon on the table -Not to brag but no one has ever raised it. You're welcome Lady y/n.- he said smiling.
Everyone looked at me as if they were waiting for who knows what.
-If you insist.- I shrugged.
I walked over to the hammer and put my hands around the handle.
I tried to lift it but nothing.
I tried to push it but nothing.
-Come on, come on, come on, come on.- the team was cheering for me.
Suddenly he felt that he had risen a little, even if only a few millimeters.
For a second I saw the terror in Thor's eyes.
-Ok, ok. Enough. I surrender.- I said with a sigh and went back to sit down.
