Chapter 40

The next morning when I woke up, I felt the empty spot next to me.
"Bucky is already up." I thought sadly covering myself better with the warm sheets.
I could still smell Bucky's perfume.
I cuddled up, bringing my legs to my chest.
-Morning y/n. Bucky left you an envelope on the night table with your breakfast.- Jarvis said.
-Thanks J.- I said yawning and sitting up.
I looked at the night table and found a plate of pancakes and a letter.
It was a little heavier than a normal letter should be.
I took the letter and carefully opened it and I started reading it.
"Good morning doll.
I'm sorry that I can't be here when you will wake up, but I'm on a mission with Steve, nothing too dangerous.
We should be back in a few hours, don't worry.
I know I said that this morning I would have told you what I said to your parents yesterday but I guess you have to wait a little longer, sorry love.
Remember to eat the pancakes, because I made them and then take some painkillers if you need it.
In the envelope there is something that I would like you to wear.
Text me when you get up.

I checked the envelope and there was a necklace with a military tag with his name carved in it.
I immediately wore it.
I was smiling so much that my cheeks hurt.
After eating, I took my phone and opened Bucky's chat.

When will you be coming back?

We just arrived at the place, so two or three hours, I would say.

Tell Steve to be careful too.

I turned off my phone and stood up, walking to the kitchen to say hi to the others, but the feeling of anxiety didn't leave me all morning, knowing that Bucky could be in danger.
-Goodmorning sweetie.- mum greeted me.
-Morning mum, morning everyone.- I said sitting down.
-Goodmorning y/n.- everyone said in chorus.
-Do you want some breakfast?- Nat asked.
-No, thanks. Bucky made me pancakes so I already ate.- I answered, while dad was almost choking with his coffee -Bruce, how's my shoulder?- I asked him.
-It's okay. There aren't any big problems with it. Just rest for another few days. You can start training again next week and you shouldn't go in the lab neither.-
-C'mon Doc. A whole week without gym or lab?- I complained -What am I supposed to do?-
-Okay, okay. You can go to the laboratory, is that okay now?- he said -Just don't stress yourself too much. You have to eat, drink and rest. Understood it?-
-Yes! Thank you Bruce.- I said hugging him.
-Hey, hey. Calm down or you'll hurt your shoulder again.- he said, hugging me back.
-Alright sorry. I'm going to the lab. I missed it so much.-
-Can I come too?- Peter asked, shyly.
-Yeah, of course.- I said smiling -Just give me the time to change my clothes.-
-I'll wait for you there.- he said while he was finishing to have breakfast.
I went to my floor and when I entered I felt a sense of nostalgia.
I had missed my floor so much.
-Welcome back, y/n.- Jarvis said.
-Thanks Jarvis.- I smiled.
I changed the gauze then I went to the wardrobe and took a pair of high-waisted jeans and Bucky's sweatshirt.
I changed myself and after that I went to the lab.
When I stepped in Peter was already there.
-You're here.- he smiled.
-Yeah.- I said, sighing happily.
-Is it weird coming back?- he asked as I walked to our desk.
-A little bit. But I'm happy to be back.- I said -I missed everyone.-
-In this days I worked on some projects about my Spider suit.- he said handing me some papers.
-Let me check.- I said reading them -Mh, mh. Yeah. They're good and possible. You improved a lot.- I said.
-I had you as my teacher.- he said smiling.
-Let's work.- I said take some tools.
After a few hours of working Jarvis talked.
-y/n, you should take a break and rest.- he advised.
-But I'm okay.- I said while I was still working.
-I know you are. But you shouldn't stress yourself. You're still not completely healed.- Jarvis replied -And Mr Barnes just arrived with the Captain.-
-Okay, I'm gonna take a break. Peter, I'm going to see them. We can continue work later.- I said smiling.
-Yeah, okay.- he said not moving his gaze from the suit.
I took the elevator to the 26th floor.
I walked in and I immediately saw Bucky.
I ran up to him as he opened his arms to hug me.
I jumped, wrapping my legs around his hips, as he brought his hands under my thighs, to not let me fall.
-I missed you.- I said, hiding my face in his neck.
-I missed you too. But how you can see I'm okay.- he said, kissing my cheek.
-I was so scared.- I whispered.
He put me down, as he saw dad staring at us pretty badly.
I cupped his face with my hands and gave him a soft kiss on the lips.
When we broke the kiss, I saw dad looking away.
-With your permission I'm going to change.- Bucky said.
-I'm coming with you, I need to tell you something.- I said following him.
-Alright, we'll see you later.- Bucky said, taking my hand in his and walking away, when we stepped in the elevator he spoke -Do you want your dad to kill me, doll?- he asked.
-No, but he has to understand that we're in a relationship.- I smiled innocently -Anyway what you told my parents yesterday?- I asked curious.
-Well...- he scratched his neck, embarrassed -I wanted to ask you...on a date.- he said looking at his feet -A proper date. In a restaurant, maybe. What do you say?- he asked looking up at me.
-Of course, Buck. Yes.- I said hugging him tightly.
-Oh, good. I was a little scared to ask you.- he admitted -Maybe tomorrow for dinner? It works for you?-
-Yes, it's perfect.- I smiled.
After he changed himself we went to the other, to warn them about our date.
Immediately mum, Nat and Wanda decided to help me pick a dress for the date and dragged me back to my floor.
-It's your first date honey!- mum screamed happily.
-I could have picked an outfit by myself.- I said sitting on the bed.
-Yeah, we know. But we wanted to help.- Wanda smiled, opening my wardrobe.
-A dress, right?- Nat asked as mum nodded.
They started looking at all my dresses but no-one of them was the right one in their opinion.
-Tomorrow morning we are going shopping.- mum said.
-We'll ask Steve to come with us. We can't bring Bucky.- Nat said.
-Yeah, it's a good idea.- Wanda nodded.
