Atifa's pov:
"No, I won't. Ammi stop it please. He is my husband! You got us married ammi, you got us married!" Using my remaining energy, I succeeded in making her leave his shirt, not actually realising what I just told her. Pushing him back, I held ammi's hand and came in front of her, a frown creasing on my forehead.
"W- what did you just say? He is your husband? If he is your husband then where was he all this while, huh? And why don't I remember anything? Stop making up ridiculous scenarios to save him, Atifa, I don't believe it! Leave me, get away from me!" Taken aback by shock at first, she tried to push me away and flung at him again, making me realise my mistake. I- I shouldn't have told her anything just yet. Obviously she wasn't going to believe me, at least not like this! Ya Allah!
"He is my husband ammi. He is. You just don't remember him. I- it's okay ammi, you need to rest now. We will talk tomorrow." I replied gently, unwillingly.
"N- no, I- I can't rest… rest like this. H- he needs to l- leave." Her body started to sag and her voice started stammering, still not paying any heed to my statement.
"Ammi?" Worried, I tapped on her cheek in concern. Why was she suddenly being like this? Was she tired or was there any other reason?
"I- I'm go- going to… kill him…" Her body sagged and her hands dropped down as she leaned on me, making me wince at the sudden pressure on my shoulder.
"Ammi are you okay?" I quickly wrapped my hands around her shoulder, panicked. Biting my lips, I tried to suppress the whimper eager to leave my lips. "Saad!" I finally let out a strangled whimper while shifting my weight from one foot to another, not knowing what to do. N- nothing could happen to ammi, she should be fine. Yeah, s- she must be tired.
Quickly coming by my side, he picked up ammi and laid her on the bed before pressing a button on the table, the same one which was there beside my bed too. Running a hand through his hair, he looked at me, frustration, concern and panic, everything could be detected on his face. And it scared me, because he had been the calm one until now.
"Is she okay? W- will she be okay?" Hesitantly, I asked him, not wanting to hear anything bad. But I needed to know how she was.
"I- I don't know. We will have to wait to know that. You shouldn't have told her that. At least not yet. And your wound has started bleeding again! God, you should have been at least a bit careful!" Coming closer to me, a look of concern took over him as he moved the shawl slightly to look at the blood stain on my shoulder.
Looking down, I noticed that the blood had managed to seep through the shawl too. As soon as I touched the wound gingerly, a stinging pain shot through my shoulder before spreading out to my entire body, making me squeeze my eyes shut with a wince.
"Sit back on your wheelchair, we will be going back to your room." Moving my hand away, he covered it back with the shawl. Before I could reply, a nurse rushed into the room, making us sigh in relief.
"She fainted while shouting at us, can you please call the doctor?" Saad informed her in distress.
"Yeah sure, he will be here in a minute." Nodding her head, she paged the doctor before making her way towards ammi.
._._._.
As we waited for the doctor to come out, I silently prayed for her health as tears quietly made their way down my face. It was all because of me. If only I hadn't forced him to come with me, maybe we could have avoided this.
"Don't blame yourself for anything, it isn't your fault. This was already written in our fate so it was bound to happen someday. There is no point in blaming yourself." Saad's soft and gentle voice brought me out of my turbulent thoughts.
