Atifa's pov:

"I want to talk to Emaan."

Since the time I woke up, he had been pacing around, trying to avoid me. Even though I asked him what the matter was, he changed the subject without answering me. Deciding to give him some time, I didn't insist.

"Huh? What? Where is this coming from suddenly?" Halting in his steps, he finally looked at me, a frown forming in his face.

"It's not suddenly, I have been thinking about it since yesterday." It was true. I didn't know why but I suddenly had a feeling that something was wrong. And even if I tried to assure myself, I couldn't shake it off. So I wanted to make sure that she was alright.

"But she isn't picking up your calls so how will you talk to her?"

"You have her brother's number, right?"

"I- I don't know." Looking away, he started pacing again.

"You can't say that! I remember you talking to her brother and- and Emaan too told me that you guys talked when we first left Suva." My mind tumbled around while trying to find something else.

"Oh. Y- yeah I remember that. But I don't know if I still have his number or not…" Glancing at me, he pocketed his phone, making me frown.

"Phir check kariye aur bataiye, I'm waiting."

(Then check and let me know,)

"Hmm... By the way, how is your headache?" Finally settling on the couch beside Amira, he raised a brow.

"It's fine now alhamdulillah."

"Will you be going to meet ammi now?"

"In a while. After talking to Emaan." Leaning back on the pillow, I replied.

"You can talk to her later. Meet ammi first." Finally releasing me from his scrutinizing gaze, he started working on his laptop.

"No, not now. She wants me to bring you too. So we will go when you are done with your work. Just give me your mobile, I will check it myself." Shaking my head, I extended my hand.

"I actually have some work on my mobile right now…" Glancing at my extended hand, he muttered.

"Oh okay, I will wait." I stared at the two days old IV cannula on my left hand. Since the time I was admitted here, they have been giving me glucose twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. It was starting to annoy me.

"Okay but don't overthink about anything."

"I wasn't!" I frowned.

"But you were going to." He glanced at me, a knowing look on his face, making me look away in embarrassment. Maybe…

"I- wasn't…"

"Umm hmm… You better don't."

He was getting to know me better, sooner than I expected and I didn't know how to feel about it.

It was pretty obvious that Saad was trying to avoid me. But I didn't know why.

"Try not to stress out ammi much, okay? Just agree with whatever she says. If she says that I'm not your husband, go with the flow. If she doesn't want to see me or she relapses or goes into one of her hysteria, I'm going to leave the room. Just try to calm her down, okay?" He instructed me sternly.

"Uh… Where is this coming from?" Turning my face, I raised a brow, perplexed.

"What do you mean?" He frowned.
