Saad's pov :

A knock on the door brought me out of my thoughts. Running a hand through my hair, I heaved a long sigh. "Come in." I murmured, unsure whether the person on the other end heard it or not. But I was tired, I could care less about anything at that time.

Alayna walked in with a tray in her hand. Grabbing the tray from her, I set it on the table before sitting on the bed, not really in the mood to have tea.

"Bhai..." Turning to look at her, I hummed, still lost in my own world.

"What happened?" Her eyes were wide with curiosity and concern.

"Nothing Alayna." I attempted to give her a small smile.

"Then why are you so upset?"

"Bas aise hi princess. You shouldn't worry about these things. You should focus on your studies, not on these matters."

(Just like that princess.)

"But I don't like watching you upset. So what should I do?" She too was lost in her thoughts, a faraway look in her eyes.

"Come, give me a hug. I will feel better." I smiled slightly.

"You sure? You will be happy just by a hug?" She raised a brow curiously.

"Yes, now come." I opened my arms for her. Beaming, she scrambled towards me before hugging me tightly. I wrapped my arms around her, cherishing this moment with a small smile.

"Your hugs are so warm bhai." I quirked a brow, confused.

"Is that a good thing?"

"Jee, but now I'm feeling sleepy." She yawned, making me chuckle. “Bhai?” She called out after a while, lost in her thoughts.

(Yes,)

"Yes."

"Amira came home today. Bhabi brought her here. I was so happy. We enjoyed a lot, we even played games... But she wanted to meet you and you weren't here." Her voice went quiet, making me sigh.

"I see. Was Amira happy to meet you?"

"Yes bhai. She was telling me how much she enjoyed. But..." She stopped and I raised a brow, waiting for her to continue.

I hummed, urging her to continue.

"I want to meet bhabi. Will you take me to her?" She looked up from my chest hopefully. I was conflicted, I didn't know what to say. I couldn't say no just because I didn't know how to face her or what to tell her, that would be selfish of me.

"In Sha Allah. If I return early from my work tomorrow then we will go." I replied the only thing which I could think of, without straight out declining her with a no.

"Thank you so much bhai! Jazak Allahu Khairan!" She beamed at me happily before hugging me back tightly. Excitement clear in her voice.

"Wa Antum Fa Jazak Allahu Khairan." I mumbled quietly, already feeling guilty for giving her hope. I wasn't sure if I would be able to come home early or not myself, but here I was, telling her that.

(Welcome.)

I was feeling much better. It felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders, making me smile in relief. I couldn't believe I actually apologised to her. And the fact that she didn't think that it was my fault, made me feel more guilty.

She was so understanding that she didn't even see that I was at fault and what I did wrong? I was accusing her, questioning her even though she was sick.
