Chapter 44: Extinguished Flames

What Lucy saw was not something that a certain dragon slayer would do with the master of Tartaros. Natsu merged himself with his Etherious version. Which made his power increase drastically.

"Natsu!!! Noo!!" She shouted.

Natsu's P.O.V

-inside Etherious Natsu-

"I'm so sorry Luce. If you want me back, then you have to defeat E.N.D and me. As in kill me. I know you don't want to but it's the only way to save me and undo the merging." I told her thoughts. Her pale face was puffy from crying.

"Natsu, I can't kill you. I just can't." She replied.

"It's the only way you can save me. Because I know that I can't save you because I'm stuck."

"I guess I have no choice either." she says. "Poison Dragon Roar!" I dodge. "I Open Thee! Gate of the Fire Dragon King! Igneel!"

A magic circle appears and a man with dark red hair and a suit appears. "Dad? What are you doing here?" I ask. "I'm afraid I can't talk to you since you are merged with yourself and I have been trying to exterminate you for many years."

"Igneel, you must save your son. I can't do this alone." She suddenly opens another gate. "Open! Gate of the Flame Goddess! Theia!"

Both fire mages attack. "Igneel, Theia, I need you both to merge your magic because Natsu can't eat the flames of a god." They nod.

"Fire Dragon Roar!"

"Flame Goddess Bellow!" They chant.

I attempt to eat the flames but I was unsuccessful since both have been merged together. "Fire Dragon Iron Fist!" I say. With my fist ignited, I try to punch Lucy but my father and Theia were in the way.

"Lightning-Flame Dragon Mode!" I say. Laxus' lightning appears around as well as my flames. "When did you learn to do that, son?" My father asked. "I'd rather not answer that." I say coldly.

I never realized that since I'm merged with the master, I didn't think I would talk so coldly to the girl I love and father that raised me.

"You can say that he's learned that ability when we were stuck on Fairy Tail's sacred island for 7 years. He ate lightning and merged it with his powers." Luce explains.

~(Battle below)~

Dad: Fire Dragon Claw!

Luce: Sky Dragon Roar!

Me: Your attacks are pointless...since I am not even at my limit.

Luce: Natsu, I know you can hear me, snap out it and wake up!!

Me: Like I would. *laughs hysterically*

Luce: This'll be my final attack...*stabbed Natsu in the gut as hard as I could with my poison scythe*

Me: *groans* Ahhhhhh!!

Luce: Natsu!!!

Lucy's P.O.V

After I stabbed Natsu as hard as I could in the gut, I saw both of them fall and un-merge as well as separate. I saw that Etherious Natsu fell lifeless.

As for my Natsu, he was on the ground and I checked his pulse. I held him in my arms. My head on his chest. Tears streamed down my face.

"I'm so sorry...I killed...your son." I said to Igneel.

"I know, hime. It's okay. He was out of control and hopefully Tartaros will forever be disbanded thanks to his bravery and sacrifice."

"I don't think I have enough power to give him emergency treatment." I say sadly.

"I know. But I think Grandina can heal him. But that means that my memories of Fairy Tail and Sabertooth will be lost."

"No, you'll just lose your memory of Natsu. Not all of Fairy Tail or Sabertooth. But you can say that your memories of the people you haven't forgiven will be lost." (That's a lie).

Does this mean that I'll lose Natsu forever? I really don't want to. Because I still love him. Grandina and Tertia appear and they heal Natsu with advanced healing spells.

"Lucy, he might take a few days to awaken but I recommend that you head back to the realm for a few years and just rest up." I nodded.

"Sure Grandina. Can Rain, Haruki, Adrienne, Keira, Gajeel, Aurelia, Mira, Romeo, Laxus, and Tamiko come too?"

Grandina smiled.

"I know they need to work some more on their magic. I think that especially Keira needing to build more up on her attack support."

Grandina nods. "Sure dear, I know that they all need to improve a little more on their physical strength as well." I agreed with her on that.

I think all eight of them need improvement. I call them by telepathy and they arrive quite slowly. Now I understood why. They arrived all battered and bruised.

"We...took down...all...nine...members..." Rain said out of breath. "How did you manage to defeat Sayla?" I ask.

"Well, I was under her control when I figured out something that gave me a boost in defeating her."

I was impressed with how Rain managed to outwit Sayla, the demon who controlled Elfman to destroy the guild.

"Then her controlling spell, Macro broke then I was able to defeat her while Natsu went to come and help you. By the way, where is he?" she asked.

I hang my head down. "He's...dead." I say. "No way, it can't be. He can't die. He wasn't supposed to."

"H-He wasn't supposed to die!!"

Igneel and Theia returned to recover back at the realm. I teleported the nine of them to the realm and rest up as well.

I asked Gramps if he didn't tell anyone where I went. He nodded. "Sure child, be safe. Fairy Tail will always be your home." I smiled.

"Arigatō, Gramps." I left for the realm as everyone else carry Natsu back to Fairy Tail and recover.

So minna, what do you think? Was that a sad chapter? I know, its okay to cry. There will be a sequel but I don't know what to title it.
