chapter forty eight

a/n i need to finish this story so bad LOL

weston and kalynn stare at me with furrowed brows and shrugged shoulders.

"i don't know, you know your mom best. how is she going to take it?" kalynn's gnaws on her lip, anxiously awaiting my reply.

"in all honesty, i think she'll be mad at me," i clench my fists together. "but colin goes to school in california, so i'll just use that as a counter argument."

they both look at each other and nod. "sounds good to me," weston comments. "let's go."

for the third time today, i'm walking out of the koury house with something different on my mind each time. it's definitely been a day of decision making.

i open the door to see colin in the kitchen, standing over the cutting board.

"colin? where's mom?"

he looks up to see all of us together and does a double take. "whoa- um- you- weston's behind you, sav."

i roll my eyes. "i know, we're back together. where's mom?"

"what?!" colin's eyes almost explode out of his head. "how? when? wh-"

"a lot happened today, okay?" i cut him off, glancing back to see weston hiding his growing smirk. "i just need to talk to you and mom."

he takes a deep breath. "she's in her room, i don't know what she's doing."

i give him a thumbs up and spin around to face weston and kalynn. "i'll go get her, just wait here."

they give me quick nods while i venture up the stairs. i turn the corner to mom's bedroom, and seeing that the door is wide open, i walk in.

she's sitting on her bed reading a book. "hi savannah."

"hi mom," i clasp my hands together in front of me and look everywhere but her gaze. "i want to talk to you and colin about something downstairs."

"okay, let me finish this page and i'll be down in a second," she pushes her glasses up farther on her nose and goes back to reading. i nod and turn back around to walk downstairs.

"what'd she say?" weston asks in a hushed whisper.

i scratch the back of my neck as i return to them. "she said she'd be down in a second."

we all wait nervously, not saying a word, until mom begins down the stairs. "so what is it you wanted to-" she stops on the third to last step when she sees weston in the room. "oh, weston,  what are you doing here?"

he opens his mouth to reply, but i cut in. "thats part of what i wanted to talk to you about. come sit." i gesture to the couch, and colin follows my hand to sit there too. mom sits down next to him, looking skeptical.

kalynn sits on the arm of the sofa while weston and i stand in front of them. "so," i intertwine weston and i's fingers together, and he gives me a soft smile. "weston and i have decided to get back together."

mom's eyebrows raise dramatically and she pauses before responding. "oh... are you sure?"

weston glances over at me, but i continue to stare at her. "i know it sounds crazy, but it's the best decision for us."

she looks over at colin next to her, but all he does is silently shrug. "okay," she sighs. "if that's what's best for you, then i can't stop you."

"is that it?" colin asks. looking over at kalynn, it's clear that her smile is only growing.

i shake my head. "no. we've also decided, well, i've decided," weston takes a deep inhale the same time i do. "that i'm going to apply to be a transfer student at columbia and move to new york."
