Ok. She had agreed to the coffee... But it wasn't until after he left, she started second guessing the reasoning behind it..
Was it a date or was it talk about whatever it was he had started before they were interrupted by the phone call? I mean, she shouldn't be overthinking it like this, right? He literally just said, "Coffee?" That didn't need to be looked into, right?!
Y/n and Rori headed home after finally escaping Daisy's piercing questions about the "God sculpted, sexiest man alive on People magazine, had to be manufactured, perfect male specimen," that had casually walked in with her daughter in hand. At least that's how she described him. Not that she was wrong...
Getting home, Y/N rushed to get Rori something to eat, and had her do some crafts while she did some homework of her own. Once it was time to settle in for the night, she put her work to the side and put Rori to bed. Rori, being exhausted from the events of the day, had fell asleep with ease.
Just as she was crawling into bed herself, way later than she should have, she noticed a text from half an hour ago.
Bucky: Hey, just wanted to check on a good time we can meet up for coffee? Also, it doesn't have to be coffee... We can do anything, just as long as we can talk. :)
Ok, seemed friendly enough. No innuendos. Unless... We can do anything as long as we can talk? So it probably was about the thing he wanted to talk about, but now that was a whole new anxiety.
What did he need to talk to her about in private? It had to do with Rori, didn't it? Shit, what if he wants custody... What if-?
"Stop it. Do not let your anxiety take the wheel this time Y/N. He's been nothing but sweet, and clearly he's being sweet even over text. You're going to go to this coffee meet up and be open to whatever he has to say. You get just as much of an opinion as he does," she pep talked herself, taking a deep breath.
Y/N: Sorry for the late reply, I was putting Rori to bed and was distracted by a few work things... I'm actually free tomorrow after lunch! I'm taking a half a day to decompress after a long week. Much needed...
Biting her thumb as she stared at the screen, a few seconds later, the three little dots indicating he was typing popped up.
Bucky: Perfect! I can make that work. And it sounds like you need more than just a half day with how hard you've been working. Starting a new business isn't the easiest task. I know from experience! ;)
Y/N: One of these days, when I'm my own boss, I will for sure be granting myself more time off haha! A half a day kinda break ends up with me working on something else anyway... Can't really escape it...
Bucky: Yeah, but hey! Like you said, when you're your own boss, you'll get to have the say in your time! But does that cafe you're a regular at work? Say, noonish?
Y/N: Perfect. I'll see you then and I'll make sure to get some of those muffins;)
Bucky: Great! Thanks again for making some time for me. I know it's hard given the stresses at the moment.
Y/N: Of course. I mean, you're going to be a part of our lives now from what I'm seeing and we have to make time for each other :)
Y/N sent it but immediately got nervous. It wasn't that risky of a text, but it touched base on a strange topic most don't have to worry about. It took him longer to reply this time. Nerves only getting more wrecked as each second passed. The soft glow from her lamp fading out in the corner of her eye as the blue light from the phone became her only focus.
