Considering their last talk, it made sense for Bucky to spend a lot more time with Rori and Y/N.
For the past few weeks, he had become a part of their schedule. Days that Y/N worked late, he would pick her up from school and take her to Y/N's office. Even during evenings when she had soccer practice, Bucky would stop by and take the girls to ice cream as an after practice date.
There were small little things like that that Bucky put himself into their everyday life when he could. Y/N was perfectly fine with it as Rori loved him and she didn't feel awful about having to work as much.
The past few weekends he would come over for movie night and they would all sit around the TV with a bundle of snacks and watch some Disney movie.
They recently started the Star Wars trilogy marathon. And every Friday, Rori acted as though sugar was pumped through her veins instead of blood with the amount of excitement she had for Bucky coming over.
This coming weekend would be her birthday party and she had all kinds of ideas that she was ready to share with Bucky when he came to visit one of her soccer practices.
"Hey! Sorry I'm late. Traffic was horrible," Bucky groaned as he jogged up behind Y/N.
"No, no you're good," Y/N smiled before looking back at the field. "They still have about 10 minutes of practice before they're done."
"Ok, good," he sighed loudly, catching his breath from running to the field.
"Did I tell you she has a whole notebook in the car of birthday decoration and games that she wants to talk to you about before she decides on them?" Y/N laughed, looking straight ahead.
"What?" he laughed turning to her, crossing his arms over his chest. "Can't say I remember you mentioning that."
"Well, she does. And as soon as she's off that field, she's going to make sure you get an ear full," Y/N turned to wink at him.
Bucky grinned at the small gesture. Throughout the past few weeks, he noticed that Y/N and him had been pretty flirtatious with each other. It was subtle and harmless, but he noticed. Small little compliments, moments of sassy comebacks, and little winks and long stares like this didn't go unnoticed.
And boy he wasn't mad about it. He's not sure how he got so lucky at having Y/N put in his life, but her spunk, intelligence, beauty, and absolute strength as a mom was extremely attractive.
But he wasn't able to enjoy this round of flirting as they heard a scream from the field and a shout from the coach.
"What just happened?" Y/N said, turning to examine the sound.
When they both looked up, they noticed everyone gathering around one person, but with the herd of little kids and a few adults, they couldn't see who was clearly injured.
They were already making their way to the field at a fast pace when Pietro shouted for Y/N.
"Doc, get over here!" he said, waving her down without even looking at her.
With that, Y/N quickened her pace and started to sprint with Bucky close behind.
The other parents helped move the kids out of the way and gave the injured player more room. Upon running up, Y/N noticed it was her little girl on the ground clutching her arm.
"Baby!" she shouted, instantly dropping next to her on the ground.
"Ow, Mommy! It hurts," she sobbed.
Bucky was quick to the other side of her cradling her head instinctively.
"It's ok, sunshine. You're ok. Tell me what hurts." Y/N was quick to start assessing possible injuries.
