PROLOGUE II
A New World

The wind howled as sleet drizzled down from the dark clouds in the evening sky on the thirty-first of December. The tree branches by the window had been tapping and scratching since the morning. The young Hagen girl, Aurora, had been sitting in her room all day looking at the Hogwarts letter in her hand that she received that morning. Although she should be as excited as any other witch or wizard her age, she wasn't. Rather said, she had mixed feelings about going to Hogwarts. Her mind was flooded with either questions or concerns, perhaps even scenarios of her first day at a new school. It was either that or she was busy sketching, studying, reading, researching, or observing.

While going to a muggle school wasn't at all bad, Aurora would be pleased with meeting people who were like her — magical beings. Despite the fact that living in a house with a family of wizards, Aurora hasn't really seen any magic go on around the house, nothing that impressed her. But how could she? There wasn't a day she didn't spend more than half the day in her room or away from her family — the Diggorys.

After her parents' death, Aurora was to stay with her uncle and aunt in a cottage house near Ottery St Catchpole, a small town located in Devon, England. Her relationship with Deborah and Amos was nurturing. They made sure to help her grow and develop into a young respectable girl. And they had very little trouble educating her. There was never any negligence towards Aurora while growing up and that was something she was grateful for.

Mr. and Mrs. Diggory had a son, Cedric, who was roughly two years older than her. He and Aurora got along well, in a way like siblings. They knew they were cousins, but when they were to go into the village everyone saw them as brother and sister due to the type of relationship they had with one another.

A small deep sigh escaped Aurora's lips as she slid her Hogwarts letter underneath her pillow. There had been a few knocks on her bedroom door, so she got up and walked across the medium-sized room to open it. There on the other side was her cousin, Cedric.

"You weren't sleeping were you?" he asked her. "Doesn't matter, come on, dinner is ready. Mum made an entire feast... Just don't mention it, she'll probably make us eat all of it in one sitting if we do."

"Thanks, I'll be down in a second."

Cedric nodded his head and walked off. Aurora closed the door, grabbed her Hogwarts letter from underneath her pillow, and slid it up her sleeve.

Since the mail came in the morning, she had been keeping it hidden from everyone. She only did it out of fear of hearing opinions she wouldn't necessarily want to hear. Mr. Diggory was always mentioning how amazing Hogwarts is and how he can't wait for Aurora to go. He reckons she'll do just as great as his son. However, Mrs. Diggory tells him not to encourage the idea merely because she, Aurora, isn't at all the same as Cedric. Aurora never thought to question the meaning of that, she always brushed it off.
