CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT
Deborah's Fear

Aurora loved the winter weather, not so much as fall, but she was fond of it regardless. She enjoyed a nice hot cup of tea or coffee while she sat comfortably in bed or in a chair in her pajamas or soft fluffy blanket. However, she despised the cold weather in the morning when she had to get out of bed. She'd rather stay in bed curled up in a ball until she felt like getting up. It was a challenge, to say the least, and a great one too.

Shivering, she laid in bed with her duvet up to her shoulders. Aurora muttered under her breath as she watched the seconds pass by on the clock sitting on her bedside table. She'd been awake for the past fifteen minutes, due to Deborah knocking at her door reminding her she ought to get out of bed early if she wanted to head downtown as discussed last night. She did want to go and she did want to get out of bed. Aurora wanted to spend some time with her family knowing well that her aunt and uncle would return home and back to work tomorrow. She wanted to make the most of their time together just until she was to see them again, which wouldn't be until Christmas Eve.

I can do this, she mentally told herself.

Aurora calculated the distance from her bed to her closet. It was roughly about ten feet. She would then stand there for approximately ten minutes deciding what to wear.

I'll just throw on whatever I lay my eyes on first, she agreed with her thoughts. On the count of three I'll jump out of bed.

"One," she counted softly.

Aurora began to wonder if it were too late to change her mind. Would it be possible to convince her grandparents as well as her aunt and uncle to go out when the sun was at its highest point?

"Two," she whispered, gripping onto her blanket.

She would miss the comfort of her bed, she realized. She'd miss the warmth terribly. There was no going back once she was up and out.

"Three."

Aurora kicked her blanket aside and jumped out of bed. The coldness of her room made goosebumps rise all over her body. She started to tremble as she stared at her choices of clothing. There wasn't much, for she only stayed in the house two months the most out of the twelve. She could see that her wardrobe had not been updated since she last stayed. So, what could she possibly wear?

You've got to be kidding me.

She had nothing at the moment. Aurora usually always carried an outfit or two when going home for the holidays. She never bothered to stuff her bag with more than she thought. Deborah had taken the responsibility of packing a suitcase with as many clothes for the time away and dropping it off with Catherine before Aurora was to arrive home. She'd clearly forgotten this one time.
