CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE
Aurora's Truth

A laugh escaped her lips, recalling the threats from Umbridge that she tried to mask. Aurora found it ridiculous that a professor could plunge so low to try to gain information on the other students. It didn't even surprise her that Umbridge would seek her and Theodore out of all the students. It made sense, they were likable and respected. Of course, they each had their differences. Unlike Aurora who was simply liked and respected by most peers, Theodore was only liked by the female student body and respected by the male student body.

"She's fucking crazy," Hagen stated, pacing the Gryffindor common room.

She had just told Harry, Hermione, and Ron about her "detention" with Professor Umbridge. She explained everything that she had told her. She made sure to inform them how Umbridge suddenly had a change of heart towards her and wanted her to work alongside her.

"That's not even the worst part," she muttered, pinching the bridge of her nose as she remembered what occurred afterward.

"I think you might be insane, Rory," the only ginger in the room spoke out as he stood on his feet. He placed both hands on either shoulder of the Hufflepuff and gave her half a smile. "You've lost your damn mind by overthinking this. Don't you think? We understand it. We understand you and we understand the situation you were placed in."

"Ron's right," Hermione got up as well, yawning and stretching a little. "Apart from the bit where he called you insane." She shot him a glare as she took Aurora from his hands and had her sit down on the sofa she was sitting on, right beside a sleeping Crookshanks.

Harry, who had stayed quiet the entire time, asked, "What's the worst part of all of this?"

Hermione and Ron snapped their heads in his direction with wide eyes, basically questioning why on earth would he ask that after they finally shut Aurora up and calmed her down. Prior to Harry dismissing his own question, Aurora jumped back on her feet and proceeded to tell him the rest of the story.

"I'll tell you what the worst part of this is," she said, now standing across from him. "Short answer, Theo is. Long answer, as soon as we left the office, we asked one another why Umbridge would want to ask us, me, of all people. We came to the conclusion that we were well-liked. Or better said, we were well-connected throughout the school. We think Umbridge believed that if she had me on her side I would suggest to others to hear her out."

Aurora took in a deep breath and sat on the armrest with her arms crossed, clearly unhappy. In a calm manner, she said, "I have no idea what ran through Theo's mind, but, for some peculiar reason, he reckoned that it would be a brilliant idea to accept Umbridge's offer. He told me that it was a great opportunity for her and I to start on a clean slate. I told him that I wouldn't accept the offer whatsoever; Theo sort of fell quiet afterward. I think he genuinely believed I was going to accept it if he did. I thought that was the end of the conversation, but then he turned around without a word to me. I, of course, followed him. He ended up going back to Professor Umbridge. The next thing I know he's telling her how he'll accept her offer and how he'll try his best to get me to see the outcome of her great proposal. He has seventy-two hours to fulfill that deal or come up with something that'll save him."
