CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT
❝ The Slightest of Insights ❞At last, reaching the Potions classroom, Aurora sighed in great relief as she barely made it inside right after Crabbe. Professor Snape scowled at her, knowing well that it was the third time she was almost late. He let it slip the first time, warned her the second time, and for some unknown reason let it slip again the third time. Aurora could only assume it was because she was surprisingly doing well in his class, compared to a few months ago when she was barely only exceeding.
Reaching her table, she noticed that Theodore was not in his seat nor was he in the classroom. His attendance wasn't something Aurora worried about, for the most part. However, taking a look around the room she saw that Draco and Pansy too were missing. Hagen became concerned then; Malfoy and Parkinson (Slytherin's fifth-year prefects) weren't ones to not attend class for whatever reason.
So, out of habit, Aurora turned around in her chair to face Gregory and quietly asked him if he knew the whereabouts of his housemates. He shrugged, not exactly knowing how to respond to her. He glanced at Vincent beside him who was giving him a look not to say anything. Despite what Crabbe thought, Goyle decided to say something to ease the girl's mind.
"They didn't say much," he said in a low voice. "Theo got a letter, which isn't anything new as of late, and decided to see to it. Draco, not liking that idea, decided to go with him in hopes that he'd be able to put a stop to it once and for all. Pansy only followed to make sure they weren't going to tear each other apart, given the circumstances."
Aurora thanked him for the information and slowly turned forward in her seat, a look of confusion on her face as she was not able to comprehend what she was told. Someone's been writing to Theo? He had not mentioned anything about some letters, so it sort of surprised her that he had gone to attend to that. And Malfoy had to go with him because he doesn't like the idea of Theo going alone?
It wasn't making any sense to Aurora. No matter how hard she tried to grasp the idea of it, it wasn't piecing together. She understood why Pansy went with them, she heard that loud and clear. Malfoy wasn't yet on good terms with Theodore, let alone with her. Despite it having been two weeks since the encounter on the bridge that one evening.
They're in the Owlery, thought Aurora. They've got to be. Where else could they be? They won't be long now. They'll show up soon.
They, however, did not show up for the Potions lesson. Still, it wasn't something Aurora needed to fret about. They probably decided to skip out on the lesson, considering they would've been late. Yet, she knew that wasn't the case. There was something else going on and she wasn't allowed to know anything.
