CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE
An Open Mind

Typically, it was strange to see a student who wasn't a Slytherin in the Slytherin common room. Especially on a Sunday morning when it was half empty as either students were enjoying breakfast or sleeping in. More so if the said student was a Hufflepuff and appeared to be in shock. Truthfully so, Aurora had been in shock for a little over an hour now and she had every right to be. She was as clueless as ever, more now knowing that Nott Snr was completely aware of her relationship with Theodore.

Aurora didn't know anything at the current moment — nothing about Theodore and certainly not one clue how his father came to know about them. Theodore wouldn't have told him, that was evidently stated one way or another. His friends wouldn't have said anything either. They respected and cared for Theodore far too much to turn their back on him.

"...don't you fucking dare leave me here alone with her, Blaise," Pansy hissed, gripping his arm as he made to leave the common room in hopes to find Theodore. "You can't leave me here with her. I have no way to comfort her, unlike you who does. Stay with her, please."

Blaise clicked his tongue and tried shrugging her touch away, but she wouldn't let go. "Pansy, she doesn't bite," he muttered, at last managing to pull away. "Just try to talk to her, find out what the hell she's thinking. I'll be back as soon as I can with Theo. Apparently, I'm the only one that knows how to make his arse march."

Prior to heading out, Blaise informed Aurora that he would step out for a moment. Aurora only seemed to acknowledge that with a very faint smile, a sort of expression of gratitude.

Now that it was just Pansy and Aurora, the silence was a lot thicker between them. Minutes seemed to go by slowly, which only made the situation worse. Aurora was getting fed up with having to wait and so was Pansy. It was quite easy to understand that both girls were annoyed and frustrated.

"You don't think Umbridge said anything, do you?" Pansy asked, breaking the silence between them.

Aurora shrugged, not exactly knowing whether Umbridge cared enough to have said anything. Theodore had mentioned that Professor Umbridge was blackmailing him by threatening to tell his father about his relationship. Although there was the possibility that Umbridge could have said something, Aurora doubted it. She didn't know exactly why she believed that — given everything the professor is capable of — but there was something more to the situation.

"It had to be someone else," Aurora responded soon after. "I'm thinking that it had to be someone convincing enough to have made Theo's father believe that he affiliated himself with someone like me. As far as I know, his father wasn't aware of how close Theo and I became since meeting one another. He knows everything now. He knows that Theodore has been lying to him and keeping secrets. He also knows that it's because of me."
