CHAPTER EIGHT
The Yule Ball

"For the love of Merlin, just leave me alone, please," Aurora begged as she gathered her books in front of her and began to head in the direction of the shelves she had pulled them out from.

"You think I want to be here pressuring you to talk to me?" Cedric asked her, getting ahead of her and blocking her way. He snatched the books out of her arms and set them aside. "Rory, you've got to talk to me. It's either me or Mum. I've already sent her an owl and it's only a matter of time before she sends one back. You won't be able to avoid her, she'll send a howler just to get you to talk to her."

Aurora knew that, but she didn't want to believe it. She was aware of the lengths that her aunt would go to just to make sure that she got answers to whatever query she was making.

I should've kept my mouth closed, she thought, I shouldn't have told Megan anything. If I knew she was going to tell Cedric, I wouldn't have told her anything. But it's really my fault. I know how Megan is and acts. She believes in doing what's right. She's all for justice and everything alike. I expected it from Hermione, but from Megan? Absolutely not.

"Any time now," Cedric said as he looked down at the watch around his wrist.

A sigh of annoyance escaped Aurora's lips as she leaned back against a shelf with her arms unhappily crossed. She glared at her cousin from where she stood, clearly not in the mood to inform him of anything that she was instructed to keep quiet. Nonetheless, bearing in mind that she couldn't keep it hidden, she decided to tell him.

"Megan overreacted when she explained it to you," she started. "She tends to do that all the time when I tell her I'm feeling under the weather..."

"Aurora, what happened?" Cedric sternly asked, not having the patience for her to beat around the bush.

"Nothing happened, nothing out of the ordinary," Aurora informed him. "You know how I get when I am put in the middle of a bad situation. Well, here I am stressing over this tournament. And before you even start asking me if it's about Harry, don't. The way I'm feeling has got nothing to do with him, not entirely. It's got to do with this tournament in general, I'm sure of it. You wouldn't understand me even if I were to go in-depth about it, but I just know something bad is going to happen."

"You haven't answered my question," Cedric softly spoke.

But Aurora didn't want to tell him what exactly happened. She didn't want to go into detail about it. All she wanted was to forget that it ever happened. It was embarrassing enough that one friend witnessed it; she didn't need Cedric to know of it.
