The Players Game

Chapter Eight

Sapphires P.o.V

Today was the start of the annual Spring bash amd I had to say, I couldn't be anymore happy to beat the boys at their own game.

It'd be three of the top fraternities going head and head against the three top sororities, that meant it was the boys from Delta Phi, Theta Tau, and Sigma Beta, against us girls from Zeta Kappa, Gamma Gamma and Sigma Phi would all be going against one another.

We had an advantage though, Sonny and I have been getting pretty close lately and when Isabelle noticed that, she told me to have him tell me what he and the boys had planned for the bash. I didn't want to use him, I kind of liked the kid, but when I joined this sorority, I vowed to help my sisters out with whatever it is they needed, so using Sonny had to be done.

The girls and I signed up at the table and they gave us our team colored bands and we put them on either our thigh or bicep.

The boys all walked over and smirked as they signed up, Sonny approached us and the others stood behind him, Isabelle stepped in front of all of us and stared directly at Sonny and he chuckled as he held his hand out.

"Just came to wish all you ladies the best of luck, and may the best team win." He said smiling and kissing the back of Isabelle's hand

"Thank you." She said a little puzzled

The boys all nodded to us and smirks crossed their faces as they walked off

"What do they have planned?" Renée asked waltzing over to us with her arms folded

"Well, everything Sonny told me, I told you guys." I said shrugging

"Then we have exactly nothing to worry about, do we?" Isabelle said grinning

"You're right." I agreed

"Good, let's go." Renée said walking ahead of us to the play field

It was 3 delta boys and 3 Sigma boys, they all glared at us and we all kneeled down looking at one another, all we had to do was get away from the boys and get our flag from the other side. Sonny nodded to the boys and Brent and Zay switched places, Sonny shuffled his feet and I noticed all the boys shift to the right, Isabelle nodded and we followed suit.

"5...4...3...2..." Sonny glared at Isabelle and said 1
We all ran towards the boys and they moved together trying to stop us, I watched Rocios every move and countered his steps, he dove for my feet and I move out of the way, I dashed down field and grabbed the flag, I looked at the board and grinned 1-0

The game went on for about an hour or two and we were all tied up, we watched as the boys moved closer to one another and we grabbed a few waters and waited for them to finish talking. The ref blew his whistle and the boys kneeled as they looked at us, pure determination in their eyes.

"Look, I don't know how y'all are keeping up, but something gotta give, I refuse to lose to you." Jeremy said clenching his jaw

"Well, better swallow your pride because you're going to lose." Madison said smirking

He growled and fidgeted waiting for Sonny to say one, Sonny looked at the boys and tapped his ear, they all stepped back and he gave a slick grin and the word one slipped from his lips. We charged towards them and swiftly moved towards our last flag, Sonny stopped in front of me and pinned me down so I couldn't run, Melissa grabbed the flag and I pushed Sonny off of me, he chuckled and put his hands up.

"Congratulations sweetheart." He said with a wink

For the rest of the day we played tons of games and so far the boys couldnt shake the fact that we knew their every move, Isabelle and I walked over to the guys and Sonny gave Isabelle a cold glare as she smirked.

"There isnt any winnig with you Valentine, I know your every move." She said proudly

Thats when a large lump started forming in my throat, I was praying to God that she kept her mouth shut about me telling them what Sonny told me.

"Nah, Y'all just cheating is all." Sonny said clenching his jaw

"We didnt even have to babyboy." She said rubbing his chin

"Thats the only way y'all are winning." He said shaking his head

"Or mabe we're just that good." She argued

"Then why didnt yall win last year? Playing these exact games? Its like y'all know our every move." He said looking at her intently

"Because you werent as close to Miss Blu here last year." Isabelle said, Sonny gave a puzzled look and Isabelle continued, "You told her just enough, she told us and we've worked on countering every move you boys make." Isabelle said

I froze in place and Sonny's face remained puzzled, he looked at me and tightened his jaws as his eyes grew darker, I tried not to look at him and failed, I could see nothing but hurt in his eyes.

"I trusted you." He said through clenched teeth

"I know Sonny, Im sor..." He cut me off and shook his head

"You're gonne regret it Sapphire, I swear on my life this is the dirtiest shit you could do." He said in a viscous tone

"You really thought the two of you had something? Awh, how cute." Isabelle said laughing

"I did, but now she's dead to me. Hope you win the game and if you dont then oh well." He said looking at me and shaking his hed before walking off.

"You didnt have to tell him that Issy." I said looking at her

"It needed to be said, he's too cocky. Seeing him hurt made me tingle and feel happy inside." Isabelle said with a wide grin

I swallowed that lump in my throat and held back tears, I actually kind of liked Sonny, he was much sweeter than anyone gave him credit for, I actually feel kind of bad that I hurt him. We played the last game and then headed home, afterwards, I seen Zay, Sonny and Brent walking, he looked at me and went back to talking to the boys, my heart sank a little more and I quickened my pace to the house, I didnt even feel like going out with the girls anymore

I made it to the house and went upstairs to my room, I shut the door and laid across my bed, the tears instantly flowing, I knew Sonny wouldn't forgive me, it was to much hurt in his face for me to even think of that being a possibility, "She's Dead To Me", kept playing on repeat in my head.
