Trixie

Fortunately I got to sit and relax for the entire lesson as I couldn't see a thing and as much as our teacher tried to get me to see things her holding up fingers and asking me to tell me how many she was holding up did absolutely nothing for my vision it just made both of us more agitated.

Valerie dragged me out of class when maths ended and led me into history. My eyes were clearing and everything looked like it was covered in fog.

Thankfully we were still learning about the witch trials so I didn't need to see anything since I'm from that time and know more than our teacher (all the memories I've lost are from my time in heaven)

After a blissful lesson of actually feeling smart I was dragged to lunch, and my vision was clearing too!

“I'm skipping next lesson,” I declared, we were sat in the tree, “I don't care if the rest of you want to come with me but I need to investigate”

“I'm coming!” Valerie said quickly

“us too!” mayah and aemalia grinned

“we'd better go and hide somewhere now so then we're not found”

We climbed or rather jumped down from our tree and we're heading inside when Elizabeth called my name, “Trixie come here a minute!”

I nodded to tell her I was coming. “yeah?”

“I've been thinking things over and I have something to give you, it's been passed down in my family for years but I think it's supposed to be yours.”

I raised my eyebrows, “what is it?”

Elizabeth opened her satchel and pulled a familiar leather bound book, I stopped myself from gasping.

“Why do you think it's mine?”

“because the girl that wrote this book has the same surname as you and her first name is your middle name, did you have anyone in your family called Lilith Black? Or Hyacinth Black? According to the book she was her sister.”

“I think I did,” I spoke slowly, trying not to sound too excited, “can I look at it?”

“of course! You can keep it, it's meant to be yours,” Elizabeth smiled at me before running off.

I turned the book over in my hands, feeling the familiar leather of the cover, I opened it and saw my handwriting spiralling across the pages, the pentagram in the cover had faded but I could still see it was there.

“Whatcha got there?” Valerie came up behind me and looked over my shoulder.

“it's an old book from my mortal life.”

“cool!” Aemalia grinned

“I never thought I'd see it again, I thought it had been destroyed!”

Mayah pulled me into a hug, “that's amazing!” she said.

“c’mon you lot we need to get to dorm 13 before the bell rings in,” they checked their watch, “five minutes!”

We ran as fast as we could towards the door, thankfully we can run faster than most humans and we arrived at the door of dorm 13 three minutes later and climbed through the hole in the wall,

“just stay quiet, they do dorm checks to make sure no one is hiding in them,” Mayah whispered. “we're the only ones with a creepy set of rooms behind theirs with a hole in the wall into it to hide in though,” Valerie reminded us.

“doesn't make me like it anymore” Aemalia said.

I sat on the floor, dust flew up all around me but I didn't really mind, I just wanted to look at my journal. Everything was just as I remembered, except for a paragraph written in the back. It wasn't my writing. The letters were too perfect and too unrushed for me to have written it. The ink was also blue which I'd never had in my life because it was too expensive.
