It was a gloomy day here at Hogwarts. It had been raining all week, nonstop. It was lunch time and I was sitting with my best friends, Fred and George Weasley.
They saw me sitting alone and the good friends they are, they decided to sit next to me.
Fred on my left, George on my right. I rested my elbow up on the table and placed my chin on my hand. I didn't want to make it obvious, but I couldn't help but stare at Draco Malfoy... and his girlfriend, Astoria Greengrass.
Daphne Greengrass was her sister. They both were the so called "It Girls" of Slytherin, every girl, even out of Slytherin, envied them. They had looks to kill for.
Fred pulled out a colorful box. I knew they were showing me things from their shop, as I was one of the first people to be shown new items. I didn't look though. I was too busy staring.
"So, Y/n, we had an idea," Fred started. "We were thinking Russian Roulette Chocolate," George then said.
"In a box there would be an assortment of chocolates—"
"And among the chocolates would be— Y/n?"
I snapped back into reality. "Sounds great, guys," I say flatly.
Fred and George looked at each other, wondering if I was okay. "Hey... what's going on?" George asked. I didn't answer. I was too embarrassed to even say.
Fred and George look at the direction I was staring at. It didn't take long for them to realize. "So... it's not just a small crush," Fred said. I shook my head. At first I thought it was, and I thought I'd forget about it days later.
But that wasn't the case. A "small crush" turned into me wanting a relationship with him. Going on dates, calling each other stupid nicknames, hand holding. I wanted what she had.
"If you'll excuse me, guys," I say as I stood up and left. As I was exiting the Great Hall, I see Draco and Astoria walk ahead me. Astoria seemed to be upset at Draco.
They stood just right outside of the doors and I hid behind a wall to listen.
"You're staring at her again. You said you'd stop," Astoria said.
"I thought I would, babe," Draco said.
I closed my eyes. I wish he'd call me that.
"Well, then why aren't you?! I mean, do you even still like me? Or her?" Astoria said in anger. Just by the tone of her voice, I knew she her face was red.
"Of course, you," Draco said.
Hearing those words felt like a gun shot right to the heart. I didn't even know who the other girl they were talking about was.
"No. It's not. I can see it in your eyes, Malfoy. It's been a while since you've genuinely looked at me like that. Now, admit it. You want her," Astoria said.
I heard her voice break as if she were about to cry. I felt horrible for her of course. She was the one who had to say it, not Draco.
"Fine... I lost feelings," Draco admitted.
Astoria was sobbing. I could hear her running away down the hall, and that meant Draco coming back to the Great Hall.
I pretended that I didn't hear anything and acted as if I was walking out of the Great Hall.
From my the side of my vision, I could see that Draco was leaning against the wall.
I walked straight past him, until he grabbed my wrist and turned me around.
"Hey, Y/n... can we talk?" He asked. I nodded.
"Walk with me."
I did as he said and we slowly started to walk.
"Listen... so, Astoria and I broke up and it made me realize something. And it's that... I like you," he says.
My heart started to beat rapidly. It felt like it was about to pound out of my chest.
We stopped walking.
"But what about her?" I ask. He sighed. "She knew. That's why we broke up. She wanted me to admit it to myself," he said. "I like you, Y/n. A lot. Throughout our relationship, I couldn't help but think that all the things Astoria and I were doing... we could've been doing," he said as he looked at me.
I slightly scoffed. "I would be lying if I said I didn't feel the same way towards you," I say nervously. I look at him and slightly smile. He smiled back.
"So... Y/n... would you—"
"Draco. You just got out of a relationship," I say, slightly frowning.
"The relationship ended right when I lost feelings. All it took was for Astoria to sadly realize before I could confess it to myself. But it's you I want. I want nothing more than to start making my happiest memories with you... Y/n, would you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?" He asked.
My heart felt warm. He looked at me with the most loving eyes I ever saw. He held my hands in his and I looked him in the eyes as he awaited my answer.
"Yes. Yes, Draco," I say.
He gently pulled me in for an embrace. My arms going over his shoulders while his arms under mine. He laid his head on my shoulder as I felt him sink into the hug.
