Chapter 30
Without a doubt, I maintained a good performance. I turned out in the swimwear competition and now we're doing the evening gown. We will then be narrowed to the Final 6 who will proceed to the Q&A.
I could feel my feet swelling already pero kebs na.
Pangarap ko naman 'to.
"Sure ka bang sukat sayo 'to?" they asked me while trying to zip up my evening gown.
My forehead creased. "I literally did a final fitting kahapon lang. What do you mean you can't close it?"
The gown was perfectly tailored to my body. Ilang months akong on diet at pabalik-balik sa gym just to get to this size.
How come it can't be closed? Ugh, kairita!
"Don't breathe," he said.
I rolled my eyes and held my breath while he tried to zip up my gown. I heard him sigh kaya tiningnan ko siya sa mirror. My eyebrows were arched as we make sukat ng tingin.
"You know what? May ni-ready naman kaming gown."
"This is what I'm wearing," I said. Of course, 'di ako papatalo, 'no!
Naka-ilang adjustments kami ni Mother sa designer nito just to meet her vision tapos I'll just end up not using it? Hell to the no!
"You want to wear that?"
Nag-tinginan silang dalawa for a couple of seconds.
"Then, do it yourself, miss thing," sabi ng helper ko sa pag-suot ng outfits before leaving me with it. My glam team all went to smoke outside.
My forehead creased in distress.
What the hell am I supposed to do now?!
I looked at myself in the mirror while holding on for my dear life. My gosh, Debbie! 'Now's not the right time to push people away!' I admonished myself.
I grunted and reached for the zipper on my back and tried to pull it up one more time, only for the pull tab to break off.
"Oh, for pete's sake!" I blurted out, plopping down to my seat.
"Debbie, you okay?"
Napa-lingon ako sa nag-salita and quickly regretted doing so. I rolled my eyes heavenward. The last thing I'd ask for is to interact with Claudia. To be placed two seats from her was already irritating, considering pa that she's so congenial and all that.
"Do I look okay to you?" I replied, letting out a heavy sigh.
"What's the problem? Hindi ba mag-kasya 'yung gown mo?" she asked, as if hindi pa obvious. Ugh, kairita! "Wait, tulungan na kita."
"Kaya ko na," I insisted.
"Nasaan ba 'yung glam team mo?"
I raised an eyebrow. "They... took a break."
Claudia clicked her teeth as if she was disappointed. God, I hate this girl! Walang Miss Congeniality award dito, if that's what she's worried about.
"Did you gain weight?" she asked, her forehead creased.
"That's impossible," I scoffed.
Claudia tried to make the garments meet pero nasikipan lang ako lalo. She grinned.
