The next morning, the routine was as usual, quickly downing the bowl of gruel and then showers. But instead of being handed a fresh set of the black HYDRA uniform, i was handed a black training suit. I changed into the suit they had given me. It was skin tight and bullet proof with a belt around the middle with spaces for guns and knifes. It also had the red skull symbol on the left breast. I felt oddly comfortable in it, maybe it was just the familiarity of it. This was it. They were training up their army. But what for, i still hadn't worked out. This didn't feel like they were saving Sokovia, this felt as if they planned on taking over. The guards brought me to a training room, like the one i had fought James in but bigger. Pietro and Wanda were already there . Wanda was dressed in the same training suit as me and Pietro was dressed in a similar suit, however it looked less tight fitting.
There were trainers in the room with us, shouting instructions but usually we all took turns fighting each other. We trained for months, working mainly on how to attack rather than defend. Wanda worked on her telekinesis and incorporating that into fighting whilst Pietro worked on incorporating his speed. I practiced on fighting with my shield and the twins were excited to see it in action. They were mesmerized by the gold glass- like structure that formed from my hands. I could feel it in me, like a force. I could let it fill my body and project outwards.
One day, me and Pietro were in the middle of the training room whilst Wanda stood at the side watching. He took a swipe at me but i ducked, grabbing his arm on the way back up. I spun his body around, making him stumble across the floor. Pietro steadied himself, trying to act cool even though i was clearly beating him. He reached forward, grabbing my shoulder and pushing me on my back. Pietro smiled cockily but not for long because i soon pushed my self up, landing neatly on my feet. I jumped in the air, swiping my leg at his head. Pietro ducked just in time and i was glad he did because i had had that done to me and it wasn't the nicest. I ran towards Pietro, ready to knock him down but just as i reached him, he disappeared. I spun around, he stood against the other wall grinning cockily. He started to approach me and i approached him at a run. He stooped low, ready to sweep my legs under but as i came close to him, i jumped. I spun in the air and landed on my feet. Pietro looked confused as he turned around.
"You know, your kind of scary when we do this." He remarked. I smiled sarcastically back. "Well i feel it's better if i give people a warning." I replied smoothly. I kicked my leg at his stomach but he caught it which surprised me. "Warn people about what?" He asked, smirking. I pulled my leg back and away from his grip. "That i am not a nice person." I said, taking another swipe at his head. Pietro was distracted but moved at the last moment. "I highly doubt that." He laughed. I furrowed my brows and as Pietro swung a fist forward, i caught it in my hand. He stared at my hand curled around his fist in astonishment but he looked impressed. "You know i have killed people right?" The words hung in the air like thick smoke and i couldn't tell if i wish i could reverse time and never say that sentence or if i was glad i had said it. Pietro's silver eyes met mine and it annoyed me that i couldn't read them. Eventually he just shrugged. My grip loosened on his fist as i tried to understand the shrug. Pietro took advantage of this and took his fist from my hand. "So?" He said after a couple seconds. My brows raised, "So?"
Pietro looked for a weakness in my stance but there wasn't one. "So you have killed people." He spoke with such a casual air. My hands dropped to my side and he took that as an opportunity to grab my wrist. Using his strength, he flipped me in the air but i was agile and landed once again on my foot and knee. "So have i." He said. I scoffed, "No you haven't. A crease appeared between Pietro's brows as i stood up. "Why do you think i haven't?" He asked. "You can tell when someone has killed someone, it never leaves the persons face." I uttered. His face was too soft, to hopeful. Pietro looked unsure and whilst he was distracted, i grabbed his forearm and pulled it behind his back. "Ok so maybe i haven't killed anyone but i plan on doing so." He said. I leant forward so my mouth was closer to his ear. "Oh ye? Like who?" I muttered. Pietro didn't even need time to think of an answer. "Tony Stark." He said smoothly. My breath hitched in my throat and for a second my grip loosened on his arms but i quickly composed my self. "Why do you want to kill Tony Stark?" I asked, my voice only slightly flustered. "It was a Stark Industry bomb that killed my parents." I could hear the note of sadness in his voice. "I'm sorry. I didn't know your parents were killed." I muttered quickly.
"Yes well you're not the only one who keeps secrets." He replied. Pietro pulled his arm from my grip and turned to face me. "I tell you things." I retaliated. He smirked again. "No you don't, not most things at least. I can tell." Well i had my reasons. Besides, i told him a lot more than i had ever told anyone before. Pietro took a stance which reminded me we were meant to be fighting. "Why do you care anyway, if i want to kill Stark?" Pietro asked. He rolled his eyes, "You don't actually like him do you." I shook my head instantly. "No. I hate him, I don't really know anything about him but i saw his face plastered everywhere when i was in America." Pietro kicked forward but i jumped out of the way quickly. "So why do you hate him? Not that anyone needs an excuse." He chuckled to himself. I shrugged. "He is a terrible man who does terrible things, like leaving kids parentless...with his bombs." I mumbled. Pietro nodded in agreement and dodged my punch. "I was just kind of hoping i would be the one to kill him one day. Kind of been planning it for a while." I admitted. He pulled my arm and pushed me flat against the wall. I cocked an eyebrow, surprised he had passed that move on me. "Maybe i will let you have him." Pietro said. "But probably not." He scrunched his nose and shook his head. "But one day when i have the opportunity, i will hunt him down and get my revenge."
His eyes passed over me and stopped a few inches from my head. He tilted his head and knitted his brows together. "Widow?" He mumbled. My head snapped to see what he was looking at. My left arm was pinned against the wall and my forearm was exposed. I quickly pulled my arm from his grip and pressed it to my side so he couldn't see the tattoo. 'Widow 178' That's what the tattoo said. We all had one, with our very own number on it. Pietro looked slightly guilty that he might have over stepped. "Sorry." He mumbled. I shrugged. I noticed his hand was still pressed on the wall, baring me in and for a moment we locked eyes and didn't look away. Our bodies were inches away. We both glanced down at the ground in a flustered manner. Soon, we brought our eyes back up to meet the others. A small smirk was appearing on Pietro's lips. He looked over his shoulder, glancing around the room. Wanda was watching the two trainers curiously as they spoke in rapid Sokovian. The scientists observing from behind the glass were distracted with their own hushed conversations. Pietro looked back at me. "Quickly, whilst no one is looking." He muttered. I furrowed my brows. "What?" I asked, not knowing what he was talking about. His answer came soon after. He leant forward and pressed his lips to mine. I reclined slightly in shock and pressed my hands into his chest, shoving him away. His face fell and he furrowed his brows with disappointment. I furrowed my brows too and then i felt a sudden urge to lean back in. But it was too late now, the trainers had started to shout at us to get back to fighting. The silence was awkward and then Pietro let out a laugh.
Pietro rubbed the back of his neck and pulled away reluctantly. We started training again like nothing had happened. I was shocked, flustered. Did me and Pietro really just kiss? I didn't do that type of thing. Well of course i had before. It was a common technique in the red room, get dressed up, put on red lipstick, make yourself look older than you are, get him in a room alone and then....carry out the mission you were given. But i had never kissed someone for any other reason. I couldn't understand the meaning of it.
