Topside Eleanor Lamb/ Reader

"Do you ever wonder what it's like up there?"

You turned to look over your shoulder to find the voice that had always sent a wave of peace through you.

"What do you mean Eleanor?"

You knew what she was asking, knew that the both of you wanted to see clouds in the real world, not just from pages of a book. Rapture was hellish and though you knew it once held a beauty you couldn't recall it, you were so young when the city started to crumble.

"You know what I want to see the most," she spoke, voice hushed and steps quiet as she approached you, fingers intertwining with your own.

"What's that," you breathed out just as quiet, finding the weight of her head on your shoulder to be a comfort to you.

"The stars."

You nodded a small laugh managing to break the air as you saw her eyes sparkle at the mere mention of the celestial objects.

"Promise me you'll take me to see them," she whispered her hand giving yours a slight squeeze, "promise me that when we get out of here . . . Promise me that we'll get out of here."

She sounded tired, years of pressure and stress started to crack her hopeful facade.

A sigh escaped her parted lips and you wondered if she knew how beautiful she was and how safe she made you feel.

"Eleanor," you said, her name sweet on your tongue as your voice echoed through the destroyed room, "I'm taking you topside, and we're gonna watch the stars anytime you want."

"Clouds too?"

"Without a doubt."

She smiled again, a sad desperate one that wanted to believe that what you were saying was true. But she knew that the two of you had been tied to Rapture your whole lives, and the idea of leaving seemed further to grasp with each passing day.

"I love you," you whispered, pulling her figure closer to you and engulfing her in a hug.

"I love you too."
