tw: guns, violence, mentioning of murder

9:59 am
your pov

your eyes widened. did someone break in? without a second thought, you dashed to the side of the stairs so that the intruder wouldn't see you when they came down the stairs.

you had nothing but your fists to defend yourself. you took a silent, but deep breath in, letting it out slowly as to not make any noise.

you heard a voice, "alright, i'm going, i'm going!"

it was alex. thank god he was alive. but, you kept your guard up. it was most likely the intruder was armed. you heard the footsteps coming closer. you grew more and more afraid.

you took another silent breath in and out to calm yourself. you kept looking to the side of the stairs. you saw alex walking out, and a gun to his back.

acting fast, you grabbed the gun with both hands and pointed it away from alex. you punched the gun out of the intruder's hands and it slid across the floor.

the intruder got out of your grasp. good god, they were buff. they swung their right hand, but you blocked with your left arm. you grabbed them by their shoulder and arm then kicked them right in the stomach, launching them away from you.

the intruder had a black face mask, and all dark clothing. you assumed they were male, with their build and short black hair. plus, that tattoo on his shoulder. a shark?

alex slid in front of the intruder with a gun pointed at him. "who are you with?" he asked.

"hey, hey, don't shoot. i was sent here by the wild cards." he answered.

"take off the mask." you demand. he hesitated, but eventually did after you and alex leaned towards him.

it was strange. you didn't recognize his face. you raised an eyebrow. "you're a wildcard? never seen you before."

"just joined this month. i assume you're kaleb's daughter." he responds.

"tch, i wish i wasn't." you muttered to yourself.

"enough chitchat. why are you here?" alex asked.

"i was ordered to kill you both, by karl's dad himself." he answered.

"what did he say to him?" you thought to yourself.

"that's all we need to know. say goodbye, shark boy." alex said before he shot the guy. you hid the body in the basement. when you came back up, alex was looking a bit stressed.

"this isn't good. they know where we live. if we stay here, they're gonna get us for sure," he looked up at you, "it was lucky you were there to save me."

"hey, i got your back," you respond, "but you're right. we have to get out of here or we're gonna be attacked again. but where are we gonna go?"

alex took a while to think to himself. "i know just the place to go."

-

alex had made a call to every venom member. now, all of them were gathering at headquarters, waiting until alex could announce what was going on.

about 10 minutes later, everyone had arrived. alex had signalled the group to shut up and let him speak. he cleared his throat before talking.

"alright, we're under attack. the wild cards decided to break into my house and attempt to assassinate me," he opened. "thankfully, i had y/n there to protect me."

there was murmuring. obviously, they'd be surprised. alex continued on with his speech, "we need to take action earlier than expected. y/n and i are moving to a different place, while that's going on, we need to be prepared in case of another attack."

the meeting continued. the plan was still in motion, but the team decided they'd be more cautious. alex had dismissed the group, and everyone went home.

you and alex stayed at base. no important stuff, really. just you two hanging out on an abandoned couch in the corner of a large room.

"is this fight even going to matter in a few years?" you ask.

"what do you mean?" alex asked in return.

"look at us. we murder people for money. we take people hostage. and just a few days ago, you said that you don't even like it! so why do you still do it?" you ask.

"i told you, it's for my dad! why else would i endure those innocent people's screams of terror?!" alex raised his voice.

"who cares about the legacy?" you ask, standing up. "your life is in constant danger! this isn't about what your father wants, it's about what you want!" you argue.

"so you're telling me i should betray my dad?" he asks aggressively, standing up as well.

flashbacks of your first major arguement with karl race into your mind as alex said that. you still felt anger. you knew what you wanted to do would help him, but he was being stubborn. you just need to give him one final push.

"alex, how do you betray someone who's dead?" you ask, keeping a low tone.

"what the hell are you saying?" he asks.

"i'm saying the dead don't feel emotion anymore. they're fucking dead, and that's that!" you yelled.

"you shut the f*ck up, y/n. you can't talk about my father like that." he threatens, coming close to your face and pointing at you.

"hey, i only say what's on my mind." you calmly say, raising your hands up.

"well, what's on your mind isn't gonna help now." he says.

"oh, really? let me tell you what's on my mind at this very moment." you say.

"and what would that be, oh wise one?" alex asked in a mocking tone.

"nobody controls your life but you. you have to decide for yourself..."

"...alexis."
