your pov

"goddammit!" was the first thing you heard when you woke up. a string of metal clangs followed the yell.

you immediately wanted to see what was going on, but the fact that you just woke up slowed you down. you walked to where you thought the sound came from, and that was the kitchen.

you yawned, "the f*ck is going on here?" as you rubbed your eyes, you could see alex staring in horror at the pots and pan he just dropped.

he immediately stood up upon hearing your tired voice, hiding his hands behind his back. behind him was the stove, and it looked like he'd burnt something on one of the pans.

smoke filled the room, and you weren't awake enough to scold him for whatever the hell he did to ruin the kitchen this badly.

an embarrassed look washed over alex as he tried hiding his failed...whatever dish he was making. silence took over between you two, and all you could hear was the food burning even more.

"so, breakfast probably won't be happening." he finally spoke, trying to lighten the mood.

"yeah, and unless you don't want it happening ever again, you should turn off that stove." you instructed, not wanting to risk an actual house fire.

you noticed a burn on his hand as he was turning off the stove, and you immediately rushed up to him. you grabbed his hand, looking closely at the burn.

"jeez, this looks really bad. you're okay, right?" you ask, looking back at him.

"my hand is burnt, the kitchen almost caught on fire, and i f*cked up the pancakes. take a wild guess." he answered sarcastically.

you sighed dramatically, bringing him to the sink to run his hand under cold water. after drying his hand, you ask him to sit down at the dining table while you got a jar of vaseline.

alex's pov

how the f*ck did i burn my hand so badly? and how long is y/n gonna take? i watch as they reached inside our cabinet. hopefully this won't be painful.

"gimme your hand." they instructed. i gave them my hand, and let them do their thing. it didn't take that long, really. just a little layer of vaseline and i was good.

"now, just reapply it whenever it feels dry." they said. i nodded and got back up. i walk away, a small smile forming on my face. they're so caring.

after what just happened, i figured a good cup of coffee would do for now. a few sips later, i heard y/n calling me from the living room. "alex! come here for a sec, will you?"

"let me finish my coffee first!" i yell back, taking another sip. they yelled again, "just finish it here, it's really important!"

rolling my eyes, i get up again and walk to where they were sitting. they were on their laptop, and some sort of elaborate scheme was plastered on the screen.

"what's that?" i ask, leaning on the table. they turn their laptop to me, and explain what they're doing.

"in case something goes out of control, i'm creating a f*ck ton of backup plans to make sure everyone stays alive. mr. jacobs betrays us? we get backup on his ass. out of ammo? get a helicopter! one of us dies? the other takes over! and if all goes well, we'll stick to our original plan."

i love how elaborate they are. it seems like they have a solution to everything. they turn the screen back to themselves, and talked again.

"so, what time you gonna get to headquarters? we need to let everyone know about our partnership with the wild cards." they asked.

i told them we'd be meeting at 2:30, so we'd have time to get ready and chill a bit. i took out my phone and told everyone we had another meeting.

your pov

you stare at your laptop, asking yourself if anything else needed to be included in the plan. it was hard to focus, especially with all the change in the business. you shut your laptop and got up, deciding to get ready, too.

you took a hot shower, feeling the water temporarily rinse off your current problems. as you're covering yourself in soap, you phone starts ringing. you couldn't pick it up, so you had no choice but to ignore it.

your phone went silent for a second before ringing again. that's odd, what could possibly be that important for you to get called twice in a row? the ringing became more frequent now that you were getting texts left and right.

worried, you turned off the tap and exited the shower. you wrapped yourself up in a towel before checking your phone.

your eyes widened. "are you f*cking kidding me?!" you immediately pat yourself dry and got the nearest hoodie and pair of sweatpants on. you didn't even bother drying your hair.

dashing out of the bathroom, you grabbed your keys, phone, and wallet and put a pair of shoes on. you practically slammed the door behind you and locked it before jumping into your car.

panicking, you started the car, speeding out of the driveway. you were headed straight for alex's last known location. it would take quite a while to get there, so you decided to take this opportunity to call for backup.

puffy was the first to pop up in your mind, so you called her. she picked up, greeting you with a friendly "hello?"

"puff, i need your help. alex just sent me all these weird texts and his location. something's definitely happened to him." you explained, voice shaking.

"shit, what'd he say?! text me the location and i'll get reinforcements." she responded.

"i'll get it to you asap. he just kept calling me and saying he didn't have a lot of time and that he needed help." you answered. you grunt-screamed before speaking again, "this is bad, this is so bad. what if this was the wild cards?! ugh! i told him not to trust those insensitive bastards!"

"okay, okay, calm down. the messages were recent, right? they couldn't have done anything to him, we still have a chance!" puffy says, trying to ease your mind.

you sighed, "you're probably right. i'll get you that location." you hung up soon after saying that. while paying as much attention to the road as possible, you forwarded alex's location to puffy.

the whole drive, you were thinking about alex. you were holding onto the thought that he's okay and unharmed. you were worried sick, and losing your best friend not too long ago was not helping your already negative mindset.

you finally got to the location alex sent to you. a creepy, rusty abandoned warehouse. it was dark inside, and all you could hear were the creaks of the metal structures inside. while walking through the warehouse, you kept thinking to yourself.

"please be okay."
