i groaned as my phone vibrated on the nightstand. i already declined it 2 times. i decided to accept it so i can know the person who had a deathwish
"what the fuck do you-" i was cut off by a very familiar voice
"shut up!" lily yelled at the other side of the call. i was taken aback
"excuse me?" i asked, offended
"i said shutup! cant you ever just pick up your phone?! i called like a million times! I'm freaking out! carl is not home and he left his phone here, and the baby-"
"what happened to the baby?" i asked now more awake then ever
"i was gonna tell you, you dumb fuck!" she yelled and started panting and i heard her move a little "my water broke"
i was out of my bed already getting ready when she finished the sentence. "just wait at your house I'll be there in 5" i said
"you get 2 or I'll pop this baby out right on this porch" she seemed in pain.
"what are you doing on the porch alone at 2 am? get inside. I'll get you from inside" i told her and hung up after hearing her make an agreeing sound through her whimpers
i walked to the front door but i knew someone was following me, her scent was unmistakable
"what's wrong?" she asked in a groggy but worried voice

"lily's water broke and carl is not home" i told her and opened the front door. she gasps and follows me out
"I'm coming with." she yelled trying to catch up with me. i nodded and we both got inside my car and drove to carl's house in 4 minutes
"oh thank god you both are here! i was about to just do it" lily sighed. i went to help her get up from the couch but she looked in pain
"ok I'm gonna start timing your contractions" fayre told her in a soothing voice
lily nods and i decided to get a hold of carl while fayre tried to calm down lily.
"hey-"
"where the fuck are you? your wife's fucking water broke and she is going through all of this alone" i seethed at carl. now don't think for a second that i care even a slightest bit about this fucker or lily, i care about the child
"what!?" i hear her curse under his breathe and hear screeching of tires
"what were you doing?! i swear to god if i find out you were with a misteress-"
"what the fuck?! aldrin i was out for work and i texted you about it! lily was due next week so i didn't think bout it" he cut me off. i hummed.
"get your ass at the hospital, I'll get her there, fayre is here too" and i hung up after re assuring him
"let's get going"
"contractions, they are 10 minutes apart" fayre told me "we have about 10 minutes to get her into the car" i nodded
8 days
once we finally got lily in the car, we started driving to the hospital. like on the way here, there was thick air full of tension in the car
"god this tension is getting me irritated" lily threw her head back in the back seat. we both ignored her
we finally got to the hospital and lily was admitted in. we were sitting in her room waiting for the nurse to time her while lily held my hand in the tightest grip ever
