XIV-my plan is working-

i kiss fayre as soon as she is in my arms. I missed her

"how was it?" I asked pulling away but still had my arms around her. She smiled at me

"It was weird to be honest, i guess im just used to being with your annoying ass" she rolled her eyes. I smirked and put our foreheads together

"Good to hear my plan is working, you can't live without me now" i said teasingly but the thought made my heart do weird shit

I was away for the whole week for work in Florida and because of the conditions, I didn't wanna leave her alone at my house.

I proposed the idea of her staying with lily and carl but she didn't wanna disturb them now that they were busy with edwin and also that if she was to be attacked again, she didn't wanna bring them harm.

Heart of gold i tell you.

So she decided to go stay back at her apartment, which she had kept. I was worried to leave her alone but there was no other choice, so i left gaurds with her. I drove here straight from the airport to pick her up and go home together

"How was work?" She asked as I started the car and put my hand on her thigh

"Fine. It's still weird to not have carl around so i might need to get a new assistant" i said thoughtfully

She giggled "missing your best friend?" She teased.

I gave her a sad smile. Yes i do, i miss nathan. Sure I'm closer to carl than any of my workers but he didn't fill Nathan's place. I wonder when I'll be ready to tell her about nathan. It meant telling her about vivian and I don't think I'm or we are ready to yet

Fayre's phone pinged and she checked it "can we get something to eat?"

I nodded "who was that ?" I asked curiously

"Um yeah so funny story..." she gave a nervous chuckle. I gave her a side glance. What did she do?
"I was bored here alone so I applied for a job, and money could be helpful" she said while fidgeting with her hands

I wasn't expecting that but I didn't see anything wrong with it "that's nice. Where did you apply?" I asked. She looked shocked at my reaction

"At a cafe near the house" she smiled "there i made a friend, she texted me picture of food so I wanted to get it too"

I squeezed her thigh and gave her a smile "I'm fine with anything as long as you are happy and make sure to be safe"

She smiled back and I pulled into the burger king drive thru

We pull up to the house and get out. I open the front door with my keys and we walked in

" I'm gonna heat these up" fayre said taking away our food and i nodded. I decided to put my bags into my office and go take a shower. I walked near my office door and furrowed my brows.

I remember locking the door

I instinctively take out my gun and walk near the door carefully. I pushed it open and looked around and anger roared through me at the sight

Everything was everywhere. Important paper mixed up, some even half burned on the ground, some files where opened and opened on my table like someone went through them. Someone had broke in

I walked into the room attached to my office which was where I kept all the guns

Nothing was there. Everything was cleaned our. I walked back to my office with clenched fist and picked up one of the burned paper, it was still hot

I shot up from my place and ran to the kitchen. The intruder could still be in the house. Fayre smiled at me but it dropped when she saw me

I told her to be quiet with a finger and silently walked closer to her with my back to the house, shielding her and walked out the house. Once we were a few blocks away i let her go and she turned to me.

"What was that?" She asked scared

"There was someone inside the house, they ruined my whole office and took some important stuff from there. They might have still been in there and they were armed." I told her and her eyes widen more. She moved to hug me

I hugged her back for a minute before pulling back to look at her "i need to called my team, take these keys and sit in the car. Dont open the door for anyone even if they tell you they know me. If i need you I'll come get you" i ordered and she nodded. She kissed me, which calmed the anger in me a bit "be careful" i nodded and walked back near the house.

After calling my men i walked back into the house
How could i not notice the other things around the house that were out of space? It wasn't super noticeable but normally I would have caught onto any slight difference but with fayre living here i was used to things not being exactly where i left them

I did a sweep of the house and no one was here. As i walked back out 3 cars pulled up. My men walked out and into the house without approaching me.

They knew what they were here for

I walked to check up on fayre and i see her furiously tapping on my phone. I could see from the reflection on her phone she was playing a car game. The sight helped calm my nerves. Atleast she was safe

"So?" She asked i opened the door. I'm surprised she didn't jump in her seat

"Well there is no one still inside, my team is looking into it"

"Dont you have cameras?" Fayre asked

I shook my head, now i wish i did though. Some illegal shit takes place at that house, a cctv wasn't ideal. But I think i need it

She scoffed "you would think that you have atleast one camera" i was shocked by her tone

Her eyes widen when she registered her own words "I'm sorry, im just on edge"

I nodded at her "I understand. Do you wanna drive to lily and carls? This might take a while" i asked

She thought about it and nodded

"Dont mention any of this to carl. He's out of all this." I told her and she nodded slowly

I kissed her and she drove away. And I got back to work.
