XIX- babies hate me-

i wasnt excited to meet fayre. it was quite the opposite. my mind went back to our last message exchange. after my still un answered text, i tried calling her but all of them were declined

i need my space, you have to understand. we'll talk when I'm back

that's what the last text from her said. i replied with a simple 'i understand'. we haven't talked since. i don't even know when she is deciding to come back. she didn't tell me.

i decided to busy myself with work, and today we are going to question one of the men we think knows about the 'ophidians'

right now i was coming back from visiting nathan. that's where i have been spending most of my time. i had gone used to the house having fayre's presence, and now i can't stand it. that's what I was scared of, to get used to fayre. nothing is forever.

i just hope fayre doesn't wanna break up. it's too soon. and the worst part is that i can't even talk to her and try to explain myself.

i don't blame her. things got out of hand, her safety was questioned.

i shake my head as i get inside my car. the hospital parking lot was pretty packed. as i try to get my keys from my pocket i noticed a figure walking inside the building.

i had to do a double take because i thought i was hallucinating. no that's definitely fayre. her hair sticks out. i quickly open my car door and follow her.

we all know stalking someone isn't the most illegal thing I've done

i follow her at a distance. she stops suddenly, looks around and turns to see me. well at least she's aware when she is being followed

her eyes widen when she sees me and i walk over to her.

"a-aldrin" she says breathlessly

i nod behind her "where were you going?"

she looks down for a second, takes a breath and answers "to meet nathan"

i raise a brow at her "why?" i cross my arms

she sighs like she's giving up "fine i was here to meet Janette so i can know what actually happened. since you won't tell me" she says defensively

my mood softens and she raises an eyebrow at me this time "wait don't tell me you thought i was gonna do something wrong-" she looks at me with a calculating gaze

my eyes widen and i shake my head "no no- i just thought-" i say quickly "i was just caught off guard since i thought you were in Alabama still"

she gives me a guilty look "yeah.....i just needed some time"

"i know but you've had your time" i say firmly. she looks up at me shock

"what?" she asks slightly angry

"I'm sorry but that's all the time i can give you. come home with me, let me explain and let's settle this. i can't anymore fayre, i cant even sleep at night because i keep thinking about how you can call me just to end this. we'll end this tonight even if...we end us" i say with a gulp

her eyes widen too and she shakes her head "but-"

i take her hand and take her to my car "no we are talking about this once we're home"

as we get inside the house, we see lily standing outside the door.

"hey guys, fayre i see you're back" fayre just smiles

"what are you doing out? you have a key" i remind her. edwin giggles and i take him from lily.

"well me and carl are going out for the night and i was just dropping him off. i hope you are not busy" she says sheepishly

i think for a second "i had a meeting..."

lily frowns and opens her mouth but fayre speaks up "I'll look after him"

they both smile at each other "thank you so much fayre" lily hugs her

"but let me warn you, babies hate me" fayre half jokes. after saying bye to lily we walk in

"I'll put him to sleep then we can talk" i tell her and she nods telling me she will be in her room

i walk to our room and lay edwin on the bed "ok buddy, here are some teeth toys and wish me good luck" i say and he giggles

for a second i just sit by him and look at him trying to bite into his toy

"what will you call me?" i wonder

he looks up at me with doe eyes and i stop myself from cooing

"you are gonna grow up without me" i realize. he tilts his head to the side and he frowns

"don't worry, not even your parents moving will separate us. i promise to visit ok?" i kiss his cheek

i decided to stay with edwin till he falls asleep. he is a really energetic kid but after an hour he was finally in bed

i knock on fayre's door and open it slightly. she was on the phone

"ok i'll talk to you later" she hangs up "that was my sister"

i nodded "how was the bridal shower?" i ask

she gives me a "are you serious?" look. i nod

"when did you come back?" i ask

she crosses her arms "i came back 3 days ago"

"where were you staying?" i ask. i know for a fact no one was coming to her apartment

"i have friends too you know" she sasses. i need to know their names later

"my turn" she sighs "what happened?"

i take a deep breath. "well-" my phone rings

it was zakai. "sorry" i tell fayre and she groans

"what" i grumble into the phone

"sorry sir but i think our guy has a hunch we are after him. we need to take action"

i rub my forehead "where is he right now?"

"he's leaving his apartment" he answers

"follow him im on my way"

"ok sir, ill share his location if he stops"

i hang up and turn to look at fayre

"don't tell me you have to leave" she crosses her arms again

"I'm sorry but this is important, i swear ill tell you everything once I'm back and edwin is alseep in my room and his schedule is on the dining table"i hurry out and walk out of the house once i see her nod
