Rainbow's pov

13/9/21

I sat there, in math, bored.

Soarin, who was to my right, was scribbling in his notebook.

"I thought you liked math?" I whispered to him.

"I know all of this already." He boasted.

I rolled my eyes, how is this idiot so smart?!

"What is the answer to question three if you're so smart??" I rolled my eyes at him.

"Stop trying to cheat, and question three is easy." He rolled his eyes back at me.

"This dumb, stupid idiot." I mumbled.

"Did you know that dumb, stupid and idiot mean different things?" Flash grinned.

"What the actual fuck." Soarin looked at him, "Dumb fuck."

I chuckled at their small banter, "Flash's trying his best."

"Well he should try harder." Soarin glared at him.

He got back to writing in his book, I tried to comprehend whatever he's writing, but I obviously failed.

"Skies, help me out here." I grumbled to Soarin.

He sighed and gave in, "Fine, I'll teach you."

Soarin moved his chair over to my table and took a seat.

He leaned in and began explaining.

If only I listened.

Too busy admiring his soothing voice.

Damn, he's kinda hot.

"So then the answer to that would be..?" Soarin looked at me.

"Huh?" I snapped back into reality.

He pointed to my paper, he wrote down a question for me to practice.

'Using the quotient rule, what is the derivative of the function f(x)=(3x-5)/(5x+2)?'

I stared at it.

What the fuck.

What the hell is the quotient rule?

"Um.." I thought of a random number, "23..?"

"Huh? What- no, were you not listening?"

"Ah, well.. about that.." I chuckled nervously.

Soarin sighed, "Here then.." He began explaining it in a more simple version.

"Oh, wait, I think I get it now.." I mumbled, "Just a bit."

Soarin lit up, "You did? That's great. Once we get our homework I can talk you through it." He offered.

"Sure." I nodded.

We did a few more problems together, suddenly, the teacher, Mr. Cranky, walked up to us.

"Soarin, Principal Celestia was wondering if you would be able to be Rainbow Dash's tutor?" He started, "She took a look at your past grades yesterday and wondered if you'd be willing to try to tutor Ms. Dash here."

"Oh sure." Soarin nodded, "I'll be obliged to."

Mr. Cranky nodded, "Then it's settled, you two can work out a time." He walked off.

Soarin looked at me, "Every other day would be fine, right?"

I nodded, "Sure, not on weekends though."
