As we made our way to the classroom we, or I at least, got a lot of weird looks and some people whistled to me, but I didn't pay attention to them. When we got to the class I saw Liang he was sitting at a table by himself. "You will sit by Liang.", Kiji said. I nodded and went to go sit by him. Kiji went to the table to our right. "Hello Marzil, I see we have chemistry together.", Liang said as I sat beside him. "Yeah, and looks like I'm stuck sitting next to you this time." "I hope that isn't a problem.", he said quickly. "No, it's not a problem at all. I rather have someone I already met sitting by me then a stranger.", I smiled. He nodded as the teacher started to put papers out on the table. When he came to us he stopped. "You are Marzil correct?" "Yes sir that is me.", I said looking at him. "Today we are doing a small experiment. It will be a simple volcano experiment since it gose along with what we have learned in our lesson this past week. I don't know how much you know, but please listen to inmate 2 since he was here for the lesson." I nodded and he walked away. "Don't worry it is a simple experiment and I know we'll about it." "You don't have to worry about me. I've done this before.", I smiled brightly. "You have?", he asked curiously. "Yeah, it was before I came here. I've also made elephant toothpaste." He tilted his head with a question mark above it. "It is like a volcano eruption, but more violent and bigger. He smiled and nodded. I heard the door open and saw Papa walk in
He took his seat, but I knew he was watching me. He is probably going to struggle to not be the over protective father in this class. I turned my attention back to Liang as he started to talk to me again.Soon the bell rang and by then two other guards had joined the class. Basically it was four, technical five if you count the teacher, one inmate, and me. I'm still not sure what I would be categorized under while here. I guess I could be technical considered a staff since I am going to have a job here. "Okay everyone let's start class. We are doing a volcano experiment today, everyone is working with their table partners." After he explained what we should do he set us free to work. As Ling and I worked to set up everything to be safe I could hear Kiji and Papa arguing quietly. "Okay we should just have to add the baking soda to it.", I smiled as the teacher came over to us. "Are you ready to test it?", he asked. We looked at each other and nodded. He had everyone stop working and watch us or mainly our volcano.
Liang and to teacher stood a little ways away from the table while I put the baking soda in. After I put it in the volcano I stepped back as it didn't necessarily explode or anything, but did erupt like it was suppose to. It probably went up four inches in the air and continued to flow out after. The teacher smiled and clapped. "Very good you two. I give it an A." He marked his clipboard before going back to see how the others were doing. The only hard part about this experiment was that he didn't tell us which of the two containers of the ones on the table were the right ingredients. There were two for every ingredient. One was the right ingredient another was a wrong ingredient. The hardest one to figure out was baking soda, but we managed to. Basically if you chose the wrong ingredients your volcano wouldn't work. Liang and I cleaned up our work area and watched others who were done. Hajime's and Kiji's volcano worked, but the other two volcanoes that were made... let's say they didn't erupt like they were supposed to.
After everyone cleaned up their desks the teacher let us talk. "I'm a little surprised that you knew, so much about chemistry." Liang said as he sat down at our table. "I guess it could be because I like to read so much. There isn't much I haven't read something about." He nodded smiled and said "I personally prefer books about physical exercise and health." "I've read some books like that. Though I like books with a storyline to them." I responded showing the cover of my book. The name was the The Memory of Light by Francisco X. Stork. "I will say that I'm kinda running out of books, but the good thing is that I don't hate any storyline or any type of literature." "Well that leaves you to read a lot of books.", He said. "Yeah! It is nice." I smiled and went back to reading my book.
Fifteen minutes later it was time for me to leave with Papa to my next class. Yes, I had a class with Papa. It was gym and I was excited to see what we were going to do. "Ready?", Papa asked as he waited by the door for me. I nodded and we walked out the door. "This next class I want you to be careful around the inmates. Some of them are really dangerous.", he said as we walked. "You don't need to protect me so much.", I pouted. "If you get hurt I'm the one who will be facing your mother's wrath." I giggled slightly. I knew that Papa was terrified of Mama, so it was kinda funny to hear him say that. Also, he never showed that he was scared of things. We walked to the gym area I saw earlier. I saw Yamato with what looked like an inmate already there. "Is Yamato the teacher?" "Yeah, be prepared to do work. Though if it is to much don't worry about taking a break."
