Mom stood up and so did I as he came closer to us. "Thank you for coming here Mr. Altomoken." mom says to him. Now I remember him. He was the main guard that watched me when I was younger. "It is no problem Warden Hyakushiki. I am happy to take my old job up again.", he said bowing to her. "Well don't expect it to be as easy as it was.", my mother said. "I do expect you to keep her out of trouble." "I will Warden Hyakushiki.", He said bowing. "Then let us go to the stadium.", she said and we left. It was a long walk to the stadium. Not to mention we had to walk all the way up to where we would be sitting to watch. When we got there I realized just how large the stadium is. Also, just how tall it is. I had never been real close besides the vents and the monorail view you got of it depending on where you were going. I'm happy heights never scared me. I got to watch as inmates slowly filled in along with guards, but it was to the arena area of the stadium. I never fully knew so many inmates and guards there were. Though since I knew how a prison worked it wasn't all of them. Certain inmates are to dangerous to be let out in crowded areas and there needs to be guards to watch those inmates who aren't permitted to go. As they all filled in standing in groups I guessed were their buildings. I tried looking for Papa, but I couldn't tell since there are hundreds of guards and we were so far away. I did see Kiji and Samon though. I recognized a few people from school as well. Kenshiro had come up to the place my mother and I would be watching from. I sat down in a chair as my mother stood up and walked over to the pony wall that kept us from being able to walk or fall off. "Gentlemen and ladies! Happy New Year!", she said greeting everyone. "We will now begin Nanba Prison's traditional event," She put her hand out as she said, "Our New Year's Tournament will now begin!" A large paper tapestry rolled down "Nanba's New Year Joint Cooperation Tournament". It was tied down by guards at the bottom. I only knew what it said because Mitsuru had given me a small tablet that would allow me a more close up view to the action.

I saw Mitsuru on a arm like machine that held him up in a cup. Kenshiro stepped forward holding a clipboard with a list of things on it. "Now let's introduce our contestants for this year's tournament!", Mom said. Kenshiro read off the list and when he got to building five he said they would be represented by cell eight. When he got to building thirteen he said they would be represented by cell thirteen. I giggled quietly to myself hearing Papa and Seitarou yelling. After all the buildings where told their representative everyone began to move to the stadium seats, though they where more like large concrete stairs to sit on. I guess considering the stadium is open rain could get on seats and cushions if they were used. I noticed that Papa, Kiji, Samon, and Kenshiro were all talking to each other. They must have been arguing about who will win the New Year's Tournament since Kiji was getting mad and Samon didn't look happy. I notice Mitsuru moving in his seating area and it looked like he was about to say something. I covered my ears quickly preparing for his yelling. "Hello *beep*, and Happy New Year!", he yelled excited as ever. I could see other covering their ears and yelling at him, but I couldn't hear it over Mitsuru. "I'm Mitsuru and I will be your play-by-play commentator! Ya-hoo! Whichever building advances through the events of this competition will win a nifty prize. The guards win a pay bonus and the inmates of the cell competing will get to chose anything they want.", he said with a colorful aura around him. I guess there would be a limit to the inmate prize since they can't ask for freedom. "Our first event is Kakizome or calligraphy! The theme is 'Happy New Year'! All you have to do is write the theme on the scrolls given. remember the neater the calligrahphy the more points given!", Mitsuru yelled to the teams that had assembled down below.

Nico's POV

Once Mitsuru said the event and explained it Rock, Uno, and I all pushed Jyugo out. "Jyugo can do this!", Uno said. "He'll pull us through!", I said. Rock yelled, "A Japanese native can do this easily." Jyugo stepped forward taking a brush and began writing. The rest of us sat back watching him in aw. When he stopped the letters were basically falling off the page. We bowed our head looking at it Uno was the first to speak, "I forgot Jyugo was only good at escaping." "We should have known he couldn't do it", Rock said. "We're sorry for believing in you Jyugo", I said. Suddenly Uno yelled, "Oh no, we defiantly won't win if we cant make it past the first event!" We started to freak out. "Yeah I wouldn't worry about that.", Seitarou stepped in. We saw Hajime and Yamato holding up scrolls that said 'Happy New Year' together. "Building 13 showing us how its done!", Mitsuru said. "Wow their amazing...", I said it. Seitarou stepped in again, "They are actually both license calligraphy teachers." "What!!"

We stepped back and saw these totems fall down from the sky. "Let's welcome our next event! Mochi pounding Daruma Drop!", Mitsuru yelled. "What is that!", Rock and I yelled. "I think you nocked the pucks from under the bowl.", Uno said and Jyugo said, "They are way to big to make mochi in." Mitsuru came in, "The rules are simple and you have two options. Either pound your mochi or nock your opponents daruma over. Each team is allowed to enter a two person team and that includes one guard!" Yamato came over carrying to large wooded mallets. "Are you competing in this event Yamato?", Rock asked. "Yes, I am, I volunteered for this event. Two people are allowed to compete. Number 15 you look up to the challenge." Yamato handed Jyugo one of the large mallets. Jyugo grabbed onto it and immediately fell back when Yamato let go of the mallet. "How heavy is this thing!", Jyugo yelled trying to not fall back onto the ground when holding the mallet while Yamato said he needed more training. Rock grabbed onto it and lifted it up "These aren't to heavy." He then began to balance it on his forehead like Yamato. "That's our Rock for you.", Uno said watching. "Then it's decided. Number 69 will go with Yamato.", Hajime said watching from behind Rock. Rock stopped balancing the mallet on his forehead and yelled, "Hey, did you just volunteer me?!"
