Chapter 17

The rest of my family soon found out. My grandparents were more upset with my mom then me. But of course my grandpa wanted to beat the dude up, yea right he'd probably get knocked out his socks. I laughed at the thought. Uncle Eric was not happy about that either. The cousins were understanding.

No one was obviously as bad as my mom though. It's been like a week and we only said about two words to each other. I have my first doctors appointment on Thursday so I get to leave school early, yay.

And I still haven't told Kace yet, I'm afraid. I can't deal with anymore stress right now, I just can't.

I sighed as I once again got ready for school.

I have to see Kace today, which I'm dreading..

At School

I headed to my science class, where I knew Kace would be.

I entered the room and quickly found my seat in the back. I sighed as I plopped down in my chair brining my bag next to me on the floor. I looked up and seen Kace looking through some papers, not worried about me at all.

Soon Mateo came in and as he walked towards his desk he tripped over my book bag but landed smoothly in his seat. He turned to me with a smug look. "Looks like I fell for you, Sage." He teased, I rolled my eyes.

"Who wouldn't?" I fake flirted as I batted my lashes.

He blinked, caught off guard that for once I was playing along. He gained composer and teased back. "Got that right, sweet face." He leaned closer to me, his hands holding his face up. He played like he was fantasying. "You got me day dreaming about that sweet ass. Face." He added at the end. I started coughing.

He chuckled. "You good?" He asked, I nodded.

"Just fine, Mateo but you can keep dreaming about this sweet ass face. You ain't getting a taste though." I said in a sassy tone, and shook my head left to right as I said it.

He shook his head and bit his lip. "You really gon do me like that?" He asked. I nodded with a big smile on my face.

"Yes I am!" I happy chirped, he tried to fight back a smile.

"God you're adorable." He quietly said, I giggled as my face once again got red.

A deep voice cleared their throat. We both looked up to see Kace looking at us. His face was hard. "Mr River and mr Diaz, id appreciate it if you two would stop flirting and pay attention." He said in a stern tone. Mateo payed him no mind and smirked.

"So you were flirting back, sagey.." he said, I giggled.

"Shut up no I wasn't!" I was embarrassingly red in the face.

"That's not what your face says." He teased.

"Ugh..." I put my face in my hands and groaned, he laughed.

"Stop it, it's cute." Mateo said.

"Ahem. I'm not gonna tell the two of you again, unless you want detention with me after class." The rest of the class said 'oooos'

I lowered my head. "I wouldn't mind detention with this sweet face." I shoved Mateo hard with my elbow.

"Mateo!" I whisper shouted. He rolled his eyes.

"Ok then, after class you're both in here with me. Got it?" Mr Moore said.

"S'not my fault he's an asshole." He spoke, I giggled.

Kace shook his head. "Mr River can I speak to you out in the hall for a second?" He asked, 'fuck' I thought to myself.

"Thanks a lot, Mateo." I said in a annoyed tone.

"Ay it was me who started saying shit not him." Mateo spoke up for me.

Kace ignored him and motioned for me to follow him. "That's bullshit mr Moore!" Mateo shouted.

"Mateo shut it." He said back. I followed behind him out the class door.

He shut the door and turned to me, making sure no one was in the hallway. "What do you think you're doing?" He asked, my eyes went wide.

"What do you mean by that mr Moore?!" I asked in confusion.

"Flirting with this jackass, the fuck else!" He whisper shouted, I rolled my eyes.

"Not that it's any of your business but he started with me first, and I can do whatever the hell I want!" I yelled, he shushed me.

"No don't shush me! You can go fuck and date whoever you want but I can't?!" He shook his head.

"I'm not saying that Sage, it's just he's an asshole, and he's not gonna be good for you in the end. I just don't wanna see you hurt."

I shook my head. "Well it's too late for that, Kace." I said and stormed back into the class, leaving him there stunned.

He soon came back in and closed the door.

I took my seat and put my head down. Mateo looked at me. "You okay, sagey?" He asked.

"Leave me the fuck alone!" I shouted. The whole class looked at me.

"Damn, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you.." he quietly said.

"I'm sorry, it's not your fault." I said, he nodded but didn't look like he believed it.

"Ight, I'll leave you alone." I ignored him and opened my textbook.

"Ok class today we're gonna be dissecting frogs." My head whipped up when he said that.

My stomach churned when he said frogs. 'Oh hell no'

He brought out the equipment and gave us each a dead frog. "As much as I hate to say it everyone who's seated next to each other will be partners." Mateo scooted closer to me.

He started picking at the frog, and that when it hit me. I quickly raised my hand when I felt it coming up my throat. "Can I please use the bathroom!" I shouted urgently, Kace looked at me in a concerning way but nodded as a yes.

I quickly got up and ran out the room and towards the bathrooms. Once I got into a stall I let all of today's lunch out of my system.

I wiped my mouth and washed my hands, before going back to class I grabbed a water from one of the vending machines.

I entered the class once again. "Are you ok, mr rivers?" Kace asked, I nodded.

"Yea it's just the frog is making me sick." I quietly uttered.

He nodded in understanding. "Do you wanna maybe sit this one out?" I feel like he asked kind of out of pity, but I took that chance.

"Please..?" I asked, he nodded.

"Take my seat at my desk it's the farthest from the class." I nodded and slowly made my way over there.

Kace went over to Mateo. "Mr Diaz I'm trusting you to finish this one alone, Sage isn't feeling well." He looked over to me.

"Ight, I'll try." Kace then came back over and started digging in one of his drawers. He pulled out a face mask.

"Here wear this, it might help." I took the mask from his hand and put it on.

"Thank you."

"Of course." He then went back around watching the class and helping them out.

I sighed and looked up at Mateo, who was already watching me. He smiled at me, I couldn't help but to smile back. He couldn't see it but i knew he could tell from my eyes that I did.

This is gonna he a long year, isn't it?
