Naina walked into the home, tired.
Today, she had to stay back at school due to the project rehersal. She needed space to breathe. Her mind was fogged with too much information and surprises.
Physically and mentally exhausted, she fell on sofa, stretching her body with a lazy moan.
"Feeling tired??" Arjun asked extending the glass of milk, Rama, their mom, made for her.
"Ma came to home??"
"Hmm, she had works completed,"
"Hmm,"
"Naina beta, Chalo, get ready,"
"Where Mumma?? I am already tired."
"Arrey, you know Chandu uncle and Anu aunty na?? Their son had his leg fractured and is admitted in hospital. We are going to visit him at evening, Papa called and informed."
How many fracture cases am I going to encounter in my life??
Is it season of fractures??
Naina sighed.
Sameer was rolled into the room via stretcher, unconscious.
Dressed in the dull blue hospital dress, he looked pale, sans energy.
Munna and Pundit were already present there, direct from school.
Anuradha picked up two cups and served the guys with tea.
"Have them, you will be empty stomach, it's not good,"
Munna and Pundit smiled gratefully.
"Thank you maa," A chorus reply left their lips making Anuradha's lips curve upwards.
Chandra witnessed it.
Finally some relief in family.
Naina got into the car tired.
"Papa, for sure should I come with you?? I am hell tired,"
"I could understand but you must come," Rakesh sighed,"They are our family friends,"
"Okay," A slightly audible reply escaped her dry lips.
Sameer opened his eyes, letting the light rays penetrate his brown orbs. He felt too weak to sense the surroundings and he could hear hazy voices around.
"Yes Sameer, slow and steady," Pooja's voice hit his ear drums.
Then his eyes fell on his parents standing next to her. Next were Munna and Pundit.
"Ma,Pa,"
"Sameer, are you okay??"
He smiled weakly.
"Arrey Sameer, utho na, all okay," Munna squealed.
"Haan Sameer, all is well," Pundit assured.
"Sameer," Pooja called him,"All clear?? Any problem with vision??"
"Nothing Doctor Pooja,"
"What about your leg??"
"It feels like I am lacking one,"
"Never mind, soon anaesthesia will bid a bye and you can feel,"
Sameer nodded.
Bela took the grandmother of Preeti to Achilles hospital for treatment.
Her appointment was fixed at 6pm and Anand seldom paid attention. His mind was occupied with Preeti. After all, he still feels hard to not to believe Preeti. Bela also was occupied with thoughts when, the ortho specialist arrived.
"Mrs Aruna Chakraborty," The nurse called out breaking Bela's reverie and the two ladies walked inside the doctor's cabin.
Rakesh picked up a fruit basket.
"Add few calcium rich fruits to the combo, it will be nutritious,"
Rama said while picking up pomegranate.
"Why pomegranate??" Arjun asked.
It's not rich in calcium I hope.
"Arrey, during surgery blood loss is common, so eating Pomegranate shall help,"
Arjun nodded tiredly.
Naina's eyes fell on Oranges.
She had seen Sameer having Oranges more frequently.
I wish that I get a chance to meet Sameer. He is also admitted in Achilles hospital. I hope he loves oranges. He will have it more frequently than other fruits. What if I give him a hamper of Oranges?? His eyes will widen like saucers. Haha...I hope Pooja di said that surgery is at afternoon. Then it might have been over by now. Come on Naina, gather the gut to check out for Sameer. You are greeting Chandru Uncle, Anu aunty and their 'son', and immediately walking out under the pretext visiting Pooja Di and checking out for Sameer. Done Naina. You must be somewhat clever to do things. Innocence don't help all time. Done.
Mr Maheswari. I am coming to meet you.
Naina smiled like a maniac which went unnoticed by the family busy buying fruits.
Pooja wrote the prescription for drugs.
"Ms Bela, make sure that she avoids walking around for a long time, and she must never skip medicines."
The former nodded.
"Mr Anand didn't come today??"
"Hmm, he is busy with work,"
"Fine," Pooja smiled.
"And Aruna dadi, never lift heavy things and use elevator whenever possible if you are in an apartment to climb downstairs,"
"No Doctor, we are living an individual house, so stairs usage is almost nil." Aruna said.
"Visit me for the regular check up next month," The prescription was handed over to the nurse next to her,"She shall accompany you to the pharmacy,"
Anuradha picked her purse and walked towards the elevator. Her fingers were fiddling with the prescription sheet provided.
Eight tablets. Seriously??
Is my son a human or medicine dump yard??
These many medicines shall make him feel drowsy 24*7. He won't be the same active one he was. It shall take time for him to return back to normal state. God!!
By then the elevator's doors opened with a cling. Taking long strides towards the pharmacy, she heard Bela gasp at her sight.
"Hey Bela," Anuradha greeted, "How are you??"
"I am fine, how are you?? How is your son?? You said that he is hurt?? Is he okay??"
"Okay, he had his leg fractured at school, today afternoon the surgery got over and now he is fine,"
"Oh god!! Take care."
"Hmm,"
The ladies extended their prescriptions to the pharmacist and chit chatted. It was then they felt relaxed. Speaking with old friends is a stress buster indeed.
"Let me see your son," Bela said,"Which floor is he??"
"Second floor,"
"Okay, just a second," She pulled her mother in law near and introduced Anu to her.
After five minutes, Aruna decided to stay back stating her knee pain as reason. So Bela decided to join Anu for a short visit. It was time to renew their friendship.
By then Pharmacist gave the prescribed drugs to the two old school friends as they both exited the room with Aruna.
