Zato Cero a delinquent who attends Kouh Academy. He's admitting a strange energy which catches Rias' attention, however he's not so cooperative. He wants little to do with anyone and distances everyone that tries to get close to him, why?
"You two really don't have to walk with me," Zato complains as he walks toward Kouh Academy with Kiba to his left and Xenovia to his right. The two had shown up at his door this morning and offered to walk to school with him. Normally Zato would have turned them down but his father had agreed for him.
"Come on Zato, we're your friends we wanted to walk with you," Kiba smirks as he nudges Zato's arm. Hearing the world friend causes Zato to look at Kiba and then turns his gaze toward the ground.
"Friends... I guess we are." Zato says under his breath. "But what the hell are you still doing here? With Kokabiel dead shouldn't you be heading back to whatever church you came from with that Irina chick?" Zato says with a wave of his hand.
"Actually when I found out god was dead, I became a devil." Xenovia explains as she flashes her newly acquired devil wings for a brief second "Rias Gremory was kind enough to grant me her knight piece and enroll me in Kouh Academy. I'll be a second year in your class from this day on." Xenovia then turns to face Zato and extends her hand." So I hope we can get along and work well together Zato-Kun." Xenovia says as Zato shakes her hand.
"Maybe we can, by the way, what happen to that Irina girl anyway. You two seemed pretty close. Kinda weird to see one of you without the other. Is she still recovering?" Zato asks as the two stop there and a said look crosses the devil's face.
"No, Irina fully recovered a couple of days after you regained consciousness. She then took the five pieces of Excalibur back to the church including my own and Valper's body." Xenovia explains
"If she went back to the church then why did you become a devil instead of going with her?" Zato asks as Kiba chimes in.
"It's not that simple," Kiba states with his arms crossed and an annoyed tone.
"Kiba's right, when I told the church Kokabiel had revealed to me that God is dead, they labeled me as an outsider even though I'm the wielder of Durandal. Luckily Irina was absent when Kokabiel spoke that truth so she was spared from the same fate. I didn't tell her about God, so she was disappointed when she found out I had become a devil. We parted ways without saying a word, it's likely that the next time we meet we'll be enemies. However, I don't regret not telling Irina, her faith has always been stronger than mine and I fear what might happen to her heart if she learned the truth." Xenovia explains clearly saddened by the events that unfolded.
Turning away from her Zato puts a hand on Xenovia's shoulder. "Bunch of pricks no wonder Felix left. You did nothing wrong if anyone's at fault it's those dicks at the church that let Valper's experiments go on as long as they did and the ones who lost those swords in the first place. You're not to blame, all the church is doing is covering its tracks and tieing up loose ends. You did the right thing not dragging Irina into it." Zato says as he takes his hand off Xenovia's shoulder who thanks him. "Now, the hell do want, White Dragon emperor?" Zato asks as Kiba and Xenovia both look toward where Zato is staring and sees a boy who looks around Zato's age if not a bit older
