We had traveled up north from Kumandra far away from the kingdom. It went on for two weeks. The snowflakes started to fall as the first sign of winter, drifting down from the sky. We traveled all through the wasteland, searching for a new land to live so the Druun won't attack us. Everyone must have been exhausted from food and water, but I urged them to keep going. Some of the people were behind and they needed to catch up.Things started to get even colder as we put on our winter coats. The snowflakes begin to fall from the sky as a blanket of snow covers the ground. Frost glistened on the leaves that turned frozen as icicles hung from the bamboo. Imagine living up north, struggling to find some food and keeping yourself warm. I would never have traveled up north to the Spine land. As we walked on, I found the abandoned village of Spine. I was expecting to see Spine warriors but it's all silent. It was like a ghost town and all of these people are made out of stone. I knew that the Druun had devoured everyone and left this place, leaving darkness ahead.
"It's getting dark. I have never been alone in this place before," Liu muttered, rubbing her cold hands from the harsh winter.
I looked around for any life but there was nothing there. There were no animals or any humans. For some reason, I think they must have turned to stone after the Druun came here. The people begin to think about this and ask a few of their friends about what had happened here.
"I wonder how the other clans are doing?" a Fang woman asked.
"I don't know," I thought for a moment. "There's no way they survived that."
I looked above as snowflakes began to fall from the sky, as the stars twinkled above the night. I still begin to think about Heart, Tail, Talon and Spine, the only four clans that we were missing from. They must have gotten in the same state when Sisu was killed by a fatal shot. Perhaps they must have escaped from the Druun. But, for some reason, there was no way they could survive this. I knew that some people were turned to stone since the Druun had appeared underground. The cold chill of my spine got the better of me as I shivered.
"We better stop here for the night," I decided, before turning to the clan. It was my only guess that I should stay here and get some rest. The people sighed relieved that they get to rest here. "Everyone, set up your tents. We'll continue on in the morning."
The people started settling into their tents and got into the houses for warmth and to start a fire from the fireplace. They started to find some food that was almost expired or rotted and looking for other survivors, but no one was there so they gave up to sleep. I was the only one who was awake. The night sky was filled with stars as snowflakes fell from the sky. I really wish I could stare at them all night before they disappear and hope my mom's wish will be fulfilled. I pulled up the Kumandra map and looked at it for a moment.
I drew a crossline saying that Spine had been dead. The other crossline was Heart, meaning that the Heart villagers have died, too. Sometimes, there were some foreigners and a family that had been traveling around the world that had been turned to stone. I can't even remember who they are what clan they had came from but this is because we broke the world by distrusting. I felt my stomach grumble. I haven't eaten for a week and I am getting hungry. I don't want to suffer from malnutrition and dehydration. I pulled out some of the fruit from my bag but there was only one left. Tuk Tuk growled and said that he was hungry. Without hesitation, I gave him the fruit and started to snarf it up. He seemed to like it. Ever since I met Tuk Tuk, he became close to me. I knew we needed to find some more food. I just want to starve to death when traveling through the big journey.
I started to search for the clan to feed on. There aren't enough fruit or plants around here because the Druun consumed everything. I was very worried. No Spine warrior had come since they were all turned to stone. I knew that there was no one here. I shivered, the air getting colder, I tried to get myself warm in my coat as frostbite covered my gloves. It felt like my energy was getting drained but I had to keep going. Something caught my attention. A pecking sound of a bird feeding something. It wasn't a Druun, it was a living animal. If it really was one then... Okay. But just to make sure.
