If you close your eyes, do the monsters run away?
If you fist your hands, do they run faster?
And, if you scream at the top of your lungs, are they gone for good?
No
Because monsters live inside us
Right in our very heart
Because only the ones worth loving
Are tearing us apartBut if you cut your wrist, can they crawl out?
Or if you break your neck, will they die too?
And, if you scream at the top of your lungs, are they gone for good?
No
Because the monsters live inside us
Right in our very hearts
And they fight tooth and nail
To keep us from falling apartBut if you ask them the secret, of why this is so
Or listen to them long enough
Then I'm sure you'll get to know
Reality is harsh for them, you must look through their eyes
Because only pain and suffering can keep them aliveAnd though you may not want you, you love them just the same
As any of your closest mates and feel the need to let them thrive
So you give them what they seek, or dull them with the substances
But you never let them dieNo, you never let them die
No, you can't let them die
