Chapter 6 (Runaway)

CHAPTER 6

Y/N POV

I ran. I don't know why but I just kept running. I was out of breath pretty soon and I was sure that being in the void for so long was probably the reason. I just couldn't handle the fact that Will knew. He knew. He would probably tell everyone and then I would just be hated by everyone.

I sat by a rock in the forest and just waited to recover. My eyes started to tear up as I imagined what Will must think of me.

Will's POV

I was so worried about Y/N. He just ran into the forest and hadn't come back yet. He could have been hurt or killed if he had gone past the barrier.

I ran to where everyone was training in the arena and found Percy, Jason and Nico sparing. Just seeing the children of the Big Three fight together was enough to make me worried as thunder approached them, water was starting to slide through the ground towards them and I saw the top of a hand break through the ground behind Nico. They couldn't be distracted as I tried to get their attention so, clearly, the best way to get their attention was to shout.

"GET YOUR BUTTS HEAR NOW!"

The thunder dissipated, the water retreated, and the arm returned to the ground as all three looked at me as if they had done something wrong. They walked up to me with frightened expressions which made me smile, knowing that I could still scare the living daylights into the three most powerful demigods here.

"Y/N has run off and I need you three to help me find him."

Jason started to look at me with a questioning expression, awaiting an explanation but I wouldn't tell anyone anything unless Y/N ever wanted me to. Percy looked as if he was daydreaming as always while Nico looked annoyed, like more annoyed than usual. I decided to let it go for now.

"So, go and find him. I'll go with Percy. Jason, go with Nico."

Nico's POV

I watched Will drag Percy who looked like he still didn't have a clue. I couldn't believe I ever liked that boy.

Jason looked like he had a question which he wanted to ask so I told him to spit it out. He answered,

"Why do you think Y/N ran off?"

"How do you even know who Y/N is?" I retorted, wondering why he knew the name of someone who hadn't even been here for a day.

Jason then looked at me with a disappointed look,

"Because I actually care about the other campers."

This shut me up because, of course I care, but I didn't get why Will had to run off and was so interested in Y/N. I just wanted everything to go back to normal, so I got Jason to lift us into the air, but only slightly, so as not to anger Zeus.

We approached the forest and scanned the ground till I heard Jason whisper to me.

"I think that's him."

I was confused as to why we were whispering considering we were quite far away, but I didn't bother to talk about it.

As we walked closer, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. A manticore leapt out of the bushes and tried to attack all three of us. Clearly believing that we would be easy prey, it rushed to Jason first. Not amused about this, Jason summoned a lightning bolt from the sky which hit the manticore. It immediately perished.

Looking back at Y/N he looked in awe at what Jason had done. His E/C eyes then glanced towards me, and for some reason, I felt my face heating up. Jason spoke.

"It's okay. We're friends of Will's. We just want to help. For whatever reason you ran off, we want to bring you back to safety. We don't know how safe it is out here."

Y/N's POV

I looked at this man in front of me and realised that he must have been about my age as well. I was worried but then he said that he didn't know why I had run off. That meant Will hadn't told anyone, and he must have been telling the truth about it all being confidential.

His friend was something to behold. He had shaggy raven hair and olive skin, while his eyes were as black as the darkest parts of Chaos' void. They were actually quite beautiful. He wore dark blue jeans and a black aviator jacket over what looked like the orange shirt that Will was wearing earlier. FirstWill and now whoever this was. This is too much. I just want to go back withChaos.

"I'm sorry about all this. I don't even know why you'd bother looking for someone like me."

I couldn't help it, but tears started forming again. I cursed myself for being so emotional and just got up and walked back the direction I came.

Nico's POV

What Y/N said saddened even me. He must have been through a lot to have such low self-esteem. He reminded me of when I was at the worst point in my life. I decided to help him then.

"Do you want to come back with us?"

He didn't turn and just answered,

"It's fine, I'm just bothering you. You should go back; I'll find a way back."

I looked to Jason for help, and he obliged, running up to Y/N.

"I guess we'll have just have to find the way back together."

I walked up on the other side of Jason as we all walked back to camp.

Y/N's POV

We found our way back in the end and I saw Will there looking really worried for whatever reason. He was probably worried that one of his friends had got hurt looking for me.

Upon seeing us, he ran up to us. I walked away so he could talk to his friends until I was surprised by being embraced. Will was warm and his hug made me feel so much better. Normally I'd have probably shaken him off, but I enjoyed it.

He pulled away and I felt my face burn. I was probably blushing as red as a tomato. After reassuring me that it was fine, he took me back to the infirmary doors and we walked toward the room till he seemed to remember something.

"I already finished examining you, didn't I?"

I almost laughed at the unsure smile he wore on his face.

"Yeah, you finished before I ran off."

I then began to feel uncomfortable about the wording of my sentence.

"I-I-I- I mean that you finished checking me ou- up, UP, before that all happened."

Will grinned at my misfortunate wording but didn't press further.

He then asked me if wanted to go to lunch with him. My stomach rumbled before I could answer. He laughed claiming that my body could answer before my mind could and we walked towards the mess hall.
