06. close enough

mayumi sat down with her two underclassmen, YU HAIBARA and KENTO NANAMI. they were all resting under one of the large trees, away from the scorching sun.

while nanami was having a conversation with her, a senpai he could respect unlike gojo, haibara was innocently admiring the second year.

his kind upperclassman was a special grade sorcerer after all, one that actually took time out of her day to train the pair.

"MA-YU-CHAN~!"

the said girl and nanami deadpan at the obnoxious tone, haibara perking up at the familiar voice.

incoming was gojo, sporting a fairly tight black top and pants. he had his arms out, swiftly picking the girl up from her spot near their two kouhai.

"satoru, what are doing?" mayumi flushed from embarrassment.

he gave the blonde and ravenette a grin, "sorry but imma have to take mayu. we'll be training so goodbye~"

causing the girl to wrap her arms around his neck, gojo began to sprint. each of his steps caused the girl to bounce her spot, laughing as the male almost tripped.

"seems like you two are having fun," geto commented when they arrived.

mayumi brushed her hair out of her face, "so we're actually training? i was over here thinking satoru was just being annoying and taking me away from yu-kun and kento-kun."

gojo looked offended while geto shook his head, "yaga-sensei wants to see our progress on hand to hand combat. oh you see, there he is."

the man he was talking about came forward, "shoko is out with the third years. for now it'll just be you three, suguru and satoru go first."

both looked at each other, jogging a bit further into the field. they got into position and as soon as MASAMICHI YAGA gave the signal, the two of them started to spar.

mayumi could tell that they were having a conversation by the way their mouths were moving, but unfortunately couldn't hear since they spoke lowly.

"so since when?" geto asked as soon as they started, avoiding the white-haired boy's punch.

gojo deflected the ravenette's kick and sent one of his own, "what are ya talking about?

"mayumi," he stumbled back, "when did you start liking her?"

the sudden claim caught him off guard, pausing his attack for a brief moment, "i never said i did."

"you didn't have to," gojo was swept off his feet but got up fast while geto explained, "anyone could see it in your eyes if they look close enough. plus the way you act around her, painfully clear."

both continued to talk until gojo had won in the end, helping geto up from the grass.

"satoru," yaga called, "switch out with mayumi."
