shopping was best to do with other people. it also felt nice to do so for others. that was today's case, mayumi and her two younger sisters going out shopping together for their mother.
that was the main objective anyway, it also doesn't hurt to shop for yourself.
nothing special was really coming up. not mariko's birthday, a holdiay, a day important for what had happened a previous year. the girls just felt the need to get something for their hardworking mom.
what was truly troubling was what to get the woman. mariko wasn't a picky being, so she would appreciate anything given to her. but still, they wanted to get something meaningful.
"maybe we can get her cooking books," kyoko suggested, "mom loves to cook so i'm sure she'll love it."
ryo disagreed, "you're only saying that because you want her to make you something to eat. i say that we buy her a ring."
"a necklace might work better. she can continue wearing the thing as she cooks without getting it dirty," mayumi pointed out.
"smart," ryo took a sip of pink lemonade, "but where is a jewelry store here at the mall?"
kyoko pointed, "there's a map there."
the trio of sisters looked at the layout, soon finding the shop they wanted to go to two stories above. after traveling by escalator and a set of steps, the store had gained three new shoppers.
rows and rows of different jewelry were displayed. rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets. each having the items made of different materials and being different colors.
mayumi glanced at different necklaces like her two younger sisters, finding one to stand out to her. a silver necklace with a flower pendant on it, something simple but pretty.
"carnation," ryo appeared next to her older sister, admiring the necklace mayumi was.
the woman questioned, "is that the name of the flower?"
"yeah, they're really pretty to draw."
waving a worker over, mayumi asked about the necklace. requesting for the version made of silver, the working female bowed and immediately went to go get what they wanted.
kyoko also made her way closer to the older kamiya sisters, "i still think gold is better. silver is too plain looking."
"but it matches with everything," ryo argued.
"it's always silver when mom wears jewelry," mayumi pointed out, "why start breaking the common occurrence now?"
"aw, i though you'd say chain," kyoko playfully pouted.
the same worker from earlier had come in front of mayumi, sliding the silver necklace towards the three sisters. after being able to purchase it, the kamiyas left the jewelry shop with a small box in hand.
