today was a day where mayumi had no work piled onto her. she was free of any missions, and also gojo, so she decided to spend her free time with tsumiki and megumi.

when asking what they wanted to do, the step siblings came to an agreement that the park would be a nice place to be. but mayumi didn't know that it would resurface something important to her.

suguru geto.

as she watched the two fushiguros play with the ball they had brought along, mayumi wasn't expecting to hear the familiar calming voice.

"i didn't think that we would meet again, let alone have it be here at the park."

mayumi's head immediately responded to the voice, seeing the black-haired friend she hadn't in around two years. there he stood, his hair tied half up and half down instead of it all up like it was while they were students.

he also stood alongside two children, which mayumi assumed to be sisters. they seemed shy around her, standing close to geto and briefly looking at her.

"why don't you two go and play," geto patted their heads, "i have some catching up to do with my old friend."

"okay, geto-sama," the twins responded and skipped off to the area with swings.

geto observed mayumi, seeing her disoriented expression. the red-haired woman wasn't expecting to see him again, not in circumstances like this.

"why are you here?" mayumi asked him, "i'm fairly sure you know that it's an order to kill you once we make contact, suguru."

he responded, "don't be like that, mayumi. besides, we all know that you wouldn't dare to do anything when there are children around."

silence hugged the pair of old friends that stood side by side. mayumi had thought about a meeting with geto on multiple occasions, having an abundance of questions to ask. but she could only start with a single one.

"why did you do it? why... why would kill all those innocent people?"

"but are those people truly innocent?" geto challenged, "they've created the cursed spirits that kill others. and if we're speaking of the village, then tell me how monkeys who've locked up and beaten two young girls are innocent." mayumi's eyes widened. the curse user seemed to notice it as well. "you didn't know? right, of course that wasn't stated in the records. we three are the only witnesses who're still alive, after all."

mayumi spoke, "that's why jujutsu exists though, right? we were given a power to protect civilians, and apprehend those who go against it-"

geto laughed, "apprehend? i think you mean to simply execute. you and satoru kill those who harm non-shamans, and i kill those who harm people like us. killing those monkeys creates a world with no more cursed spirits, wouldn't that make your life much easier?"
