Chapter 2

Two days after he came back, he started assuming his role in the company. He is assigned as one of the departments' directors.  Since he just graduated from the university, a higher position is not given to him yet since he is still under the supervision of his dad and he still needs to learn a lot about the company.

His dad is still young and capable so the succession will not happen in the near future. He has also decided to start attending graduate school in Stanford University through its distance learning program.

"Why are you here in the company? You should be resting right now. Don't you have a jetlag?" Mr. Kim pays him a visit when his secretary informs him that Jin has already reported to work.

"I'm fine dad. I have nothing to do at home. I have to get my mind off somewhere. I need to be productive and experienced. I heard you're busy. What happened?" He asks.

Mr. Kim is reluctant to break the news to him but decided that it's better to let him know about it.

"Our partnership with MDCC has a possibility of being terminated." He says carefully.

"Why is that so?!" He is clearly alarmed by this announcement.

"Mr. Han said that there's going to be a new manager for their dealings in Korea. There might be changes to the terms in the partnership." Mr. Kim fills him in of the current situation.

"Why is there a possibility of termination? Aren't we both getting benefits from the partnership? It's not like we're having more gains than them." He reasons out.

"That's true but we have to make sure that they won't have any reason to terminate their partnership with us." His dad assures him.

"Aren't they too aggressive? They just dominated Korea recently."

He's suddenly worried.

"It's normal for them to think like that, Jin. We're the ones looking for the investors for our projects but the foundation and operations rely on MDCC. It really needs to be deliberate and if the new manager is meticulous and stern, we have to be more fastidious." Mr. Kim explains.

"Can't we ask for a meeting with the new representative? We're their biggest partner here. It'll be a loss for the both of us if that'll happen." He factly states.

"We've been trying to reach out to Mr. Han since last week but he isn't responding." His dad is clearly frustrated by the silence from the other party.
