The truth is, you will only really know how great and genuine your love for a person if your will learn to have their souls freed or when you learn to choose what's best and what will make them happy. And sometimes it's by letting them go.

"Good morning, baby," he greeted me with a genuine smile. I'm hating this lately, if last month he's aloof, this month he's trying hard to swoon me to agree to his plan of going overseas.

"Still, no. Try harder or marry me first, then maybe I'll say yes." I murmured.

"Binabati ka lang. Can you order breakfast meals? I will ask you that." He mumbled.

"Just wait, I asked Lance last night." I answered.

His smile turn to into flat. "Close kayo, noh? Did you pretend, too? Or normal na baby tawagan nyo?"

"Can you stop? I know you're looking for something so I can let you go. We did not like each other, we didn't even kiss or sleep together if that's what your implying here." I said annoyed.

"He held your hand multiple times. You just let him." He reminded.

"So? That doesn't mean we like each other. It's platonic, darling." I uttered.

"Don't you want to try with him? Chloe said he's nice. I think he's good as surgeon, too. He got the 10th spot in boards. He's always with you. He got you." He suggested like it's just a toy we are talking about.

"Stop it, you're annoying. I will never try again. Why would I? All my tomorrows will just be with you. So stop sulking." I said in gritted teeth.

"I'm just giving you chances to be happy." He argued.

"You wanna make me happy? Stop pushing me to anyone. You're the only person that will make me happy. Stop this, I already want to slap you." I said honestly.

He frowned. "Then, slap me. Don't hurt yourself. Learn to be happy without me."

"Am I having your tantrums for breakfast? You made me fall in love with you, so take responsibility." I rolled my eyes.

He sighed inaudibly. "That's why I'm letting you go. I want you to be happy, the genuine one."

I remain silent for seconds. "Marry me, then I'll be happy."

"Ang agang away naman nyan." Natatawang sabi ni Dom. Inabot nya rin yung pinabili ko kay Lance na breakfast.

"Blame your cousin. Ang aga, ang arte na naman." Inis na sabi ko.

"What's your duty?" Dom asked. Sinusubuan ko si Gerard ng breakfast. I also eat my meal in between.

"36 hours, you?" I said without glancing at him.

"Off, you wanna go clubbing?" He uttered casually. I saw sadness in Gerard's eyes.

"No. I'm good." I responded while looking directly to his eyes. I saw how longing he has for the things he usually do. Being in bed for less than a year exhaust him.

"I need to go, baby. I love you." I said then kissed his lips longer than usual. He responded gently.

"I love you, too." He murmured against my lips. Dom even faked choke.

"Text me if you need me, okay?" I reminded before going out.

The first hours of my duty was kinda benign. No stat ORs, no toxic relatives and no toxic patients. I'm just lying on my on-call room bed.
