Sometimes you forgot yourself when you're so busy saving lives. The adrenaline, the satisfaction, the compliments that feed your ego. I was told there were good in goodbyes and it's when you finally let go of all your burdens and sufferings. Letting go means letting yourself grow, too.

"Lou, bar daw tayo mamaya." Nakangiting sabi ni Chloe.

"Who's coming?" I asked while yawning.

"Me. You. Dom." She mumbled.

"Okay. I'll just finish my charts later." I uttered.

"You're seriously going to a bar? I thought nakokonsensya kang nakaratay yung jowa mo, tapos nagpaparty ka." Makahulugan nyang sabi.

"I think I need to breathe. The hospital is suffocating me. Let's get drunk." I commented.

"We will. Don't let your conscience always win. Deserve mong magsaya. The tiring duty itself needs to be rewarded, don't you think?" She muttered smiling.

"Yeah. And I think I'm being unfair to myself, too." I added.

She opened his arms for a warm hug. "I pray for your genuine happiness, Lou. The one where you're not constantly hurting. The one where you don't try harder than this. The one who make you smile. I missed the old you, bitch."

I laughed a little. "I missed me, too."

"You think I deserve to be happy? I'm not a saint." I murmured.

"Well, I'm not either. But look at me, I'm happy. I choose to happy. I don't wait for others to tell me how to be happy." She answered truthfully.

"You know the greatest betrayal?" She asked.

I glanced at her confused. "What?"

"Betraying yourself. Choosing other people's happiness before you." She replied.

She smiled. "You can't give something if you, yourself don't have it. You can't share happiness if you're not happy either. Choose yourself first."

"You have done enough. Now, choose you," she continued while rubbing my back.

"I know what's happening. And I also know, you already decided." She uttered.

I angled my lips. "I just hope, it's for the best."

She roller her eyes. "The best, if the choice is you."

"Yeah. Got to go, my OR pa ako." I said then went out of the on-call room.

During lunch, Lance asked me to have it at the rooftop. He told me he ordered. Sinundo naman nya ako. Panay yung ngisi ni Chloe.

"How are you?" He asked after he put my food on my plate.

"I'm good, I guess." I said without looking at him. We're just watching the busy road of Taguig. Kitang-kita yung traffic. It was always calming lounging here.

"Have you decided?" He asked then gave me a drink.

I took it. "Still weighing things. I still have doubts."

"Whatever your decision is, you got me. We can curse him if he refuse treatment here or I can be your drunking buddy if you choose to set him free." He said reassuringly.

"Thanks, Lance. Means a lot." I uttered. I rest myself at the back of my chair.

"You think I will be okay?" I asked casually. He didn't glance at me.
